I think this is about as far as I am going with this one until I test it on a track... Two .062" brass tubes with .055" piano wire center rail and spacers... Nosepiece is .062" brass, REH bracket... Pans don't match, found them in a scrap box, but they were the right width for what I wanted to do... 4.5" wheelbase for stocker. May have some more to do on front end.

Bushings in the bracket itself, and alum spacers, is that right ?

There was a flurry of activity around a tripod based chassis so I tried my hand at one of those. too. Mine's a little "dodgy" as they say but it's finished...

The difference here is the main rail is brass .078" (2mm really) so lots of brass on this unit. Again nothing special but fun to do.
The hand-cut front piece resembles the "M" of Michigan University. So this is the Wolverine chassis...

I'm intrigued by the idea of mixing the .062" brass tubing and .055" piano wire; let us know how it works.

It results in some jiggle that works well.I'm intrigued by the idea of mixing the .062" brass tubing and .055" piano wire; let us know how it works.

I got the idea from the Samson F1 build, but did it more of a JD style center section... hope it works...
Will the plumber setup work, or should I convert to floppy pans???

I still have to make the drop arm and motor brace. When I cut the rear axle tubes too short after they were installed, I realized I would not be able to have parallel rails front to back. This resulted in some cool bends at the motor bracket end.
Might not be legal but is was a blast to build and looks much cooler than a brass pan chassis.
Business isn't too good at this time so instead of jig wheels I used another method to set up the axle heights with Rick's Infinity jig.

Totally agree, dood. Bending brass is perfect human-size finger fun.Finished! I think these Jail Doors define retro slot car. They just have a real scratchbuilt look about them.
I love all the snaking-around of the rods in the rear, a real "Slithery Jungle Tail" to be sure.

Hey, Ben!
I'm intrigued by the idea of mixing the .062" brass tubing and .055" piano wire; let us know how it works.
Got to run this chassis on our new king track in Mooresville sat nite, it rocked was great everywhere but the leadon, probably needs some lead at the back of the pans... I ran it with a NASTRUCK body since I didn't have aretro stocker to use,,, It worked VERY well, was able to hang with the 16-d flexis w/ COT bodys... the 3rail w/plumber worked well... I'm happy

Hey, Ben!
I'm intrigued by the idea of mixing the .062" brass tubing and .055" piano wire; let us know how it works.
Back when I was a babe . I liked the double wire chassis. I found that using .062 & .055 spaced with .062 wires to the axil tubing. I could change the handling to suit the track. Meaning. I set mine up loose for glued tracks. If they were too loose. I would solder in pin tubing between the wires to stiffin up the chassis. Tighten it up for no glue or lite glue.
Its a lot easier to tighten up a chassis than to make it loose. I like floating body mounts for that reason. Too loose..Tape the body to the rear pin mount solidly to the wing will tighten it up. Its an old tuning trick thats new again.
