Both are regular production chassis I normally build for customers & after testing, they both run great.
Damn it! Why is it everything I build for somebody else, it run better than my stuff.

No Mill, No Lathe, No Cad program, just Rick`s Jig and Wire Bender, a Dremel, Needlenose Pliers, and files.
Everyone left and I decided to finally clean my work area up abit from the Retro and Stamped Steel building I`ve been doing. Organized Kaos I like to call it.
But in the end in it now looks worse than when I started. Oh well there`s always time to clean later. After all isn`t a new car more important than a clean desk?....lol. My Momma always told me a clean desk is the sign of a sick mind. Apparently I`m very....well nevermind.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did building it.
Race on!

It`s fun. Got a couple M&M nosepieces from Rick I`ll be playing with next. Figure between Jerry Ward and myself we`ll have enough cars to pass out and see if we can get the Retro thing going at my store abit better. It`s a blast and not bad price wise if you build it yourself.
That chassis was actually my 4th overall since the 70`s. Here`s a pic of the second chassis built on an old wing car jig and that`s it. Just did it to show the guys $30.00 for a JK kit, some time, and you`re in.
My biggest complaint was always guys didn`t do their own building so I figured I`d better put up or shut up. Plus wanted to show the my guys you don`t need all the fancy stuff they read about on the blog to build a chassis.
Forgot to add this one handles great just tore it down to a bare chassis to have Jerry Ward tumble it to clean it up abit better. It`s back together with a TI 22 body just didn`t have a pic.
Race on!

Well here`s my first build starting with just a nose piece I found laying around the store last night after a good day of races.
No Mill, No Lathe, No Cad program, just Rick`s Jig and Wire Bender, a Dremel, Needlenose Pliers, and files.

I`ll be popping in with a guy or two one of these sundays real quick to give it a try and a few others on your king. I`m looking forward to the Dec. Penn Ohio race. Karl`s new tumor is shrinking and I think I`ll be able to travel abit if it stays that way.
Hey Dom it`s a 4" JK kit I just cut up abit. Like I said that was the second one I did in the last 35+ years. But I wouldn`t mind doing a 4 1/2" if I decide to play on the oval. I have an 85' Chris Dadds High Banked Trioval and a couple guys have expressed interested.

Gonna start at my store with my 4 1/2" Nastruck Series in house on the 28th of this month and then the OCC Series starting Jan. 16th at my store. With some Retro thown in ALOT of racing to be had here in Ohio. Come play if you get a chance!
This one was one I had been thinking about for a year or so but didn`t really check to see if it was legal. Saw a similar one in a Penn Ohio race in the 4 1/2" Nascar race figured it was legal and why not do a 4" Can Am. So I did it last night and here it is. I moved the motor forward one motor box and used a carrier bearing type deal with a Protrack spring from the car they made that was a front wheel drive hard body deal that never caught on. In theory it should be better by taking some weight out of the a$$ end. Should work good on a heavy glued track I`m thinkinng. Anyway I`ll find out real soon. Comin` to play this sunday at your place Frankie!
Praise and constructive criticism are both appreciated just bear in mind the final cleaning of excess solder and tumbling need to be done...LOL. Enjoy!
Race on,
Bear

AIN'T BUILDEN FUN..................

Another Retro Pro that has a new home....
The new build is similar to this one:
The new build has subtle differences from the original build. The following are some of the upgrades
Front half pans .032"
Rear pans .025"
The angle has been increase to allow ease of soldering in the motor using a smaller pinion
Fulcrum hinge has been moved back .1875"
Chassis is 4.75" overall length
4.00" wheelbase
.75" guide lead
Look at all the work in this front end. Sheesh, I love to build but assemblies like these get me cross eyed
I had a unique issue when it came to rear up stops. Because I lengthened the main assembly adding them became a challenge. There simply wasn't room to install a conventional stop so I did this. Up and over the main hinge.
This thing looks so cool from the bottom I just had to add this pic

A Performance update on the mid engine for ya Tex:
It handled like a dream on my paperclip. Screamed through the doughnut like a Banshee. I couldn`t have asked for more to be honest. It worked just as I hoped it would. Can`t wait to try it on the King at Rt 93 sunday.
But I also had a small gliche. I used a Slick 7 oilite as a carrier bearing and after about 40 laps it almost gaulded in the motor bracket and just about tied up. Then it was time for my Gr 10 and GT 1 races last night. So I`m changing it to a regular Proslot oilite tonight that dosen`t need as much oil or a Ballbearing and I`m sure it`ll be fine then.
