On Wednesday nights, I would estimate my racers get 3-4 races on their $11.50-12.00 tires, on both their GTP and Group F cars.

Associated was selling tires for $2 a pair in 1971. That equals out to $12 a pair nowadays.
However, it's the comparison with what $12 is worth in the toy car market now that's relevant; Wally world keeps selling fully functional RC cars for $10-$15.

My background is engineering in aerospace. My work was rarely in the cost structure however we had a ROM estimate equation (Rough Order of Magnitude) which was surprising accurate (+10%).
Based on a business selling direct to our customer (no distributors, or resellers) supporting full quality and employee overhead; the calculation of price was to sum up the costs of materials as we purchased them (castings, not raw aluminum) then multiply by four. Without an overview of JK's business plan, I would say given the $3.80 retail of the doughnuts a $12 price for finished tires is right in line.

When there are 1,500 commercial raceways in the US, instead of 150, maybe there would be a reason to try have to have some $6 retail tires made.

Heck, if there were 1,500 commercial raceways then it might make sense to boil, drill holes, and insert steel rods into guide flags (that allowed for little to no room for error) for $1.

Mark,
Three quick questions( make sure you answer all three);
How many C/R $24.95 Wing chassis has your raceway bought at a full discount, to help promote economical Group F racing?
How many times have you called me for technical advice?
How much were charged by me for said advice?
Feel free to correct me if I'm confusing you with someone else from Raytown?

Ouch. Just the opposite. I thought it was obvious that installing steel pins in guides was not done by Swiss just so he can purchase an "Ant Anstead" but instead as a service to racers regardless of scale.

Oops, obviously a bit of a misunderstanding.
It's Greg's fault. LOL.
I guess you can ignore my post.

After the NFL's "stinks" over the last few days, you're still watching football? LOL...
Facebook is swarming with people who swear they'll never watch or attend another NFL game now or patronize the companies who advertise on them. Saw a Facebook video today where a guy burned everything he had with the Redskins logo on it, and it was quite a pile.
My late mother never watched another NFL game after the first strike.
I watch just two football games a year: Ga Tech vs. Georgia and the Super Bowl, although many times I never see the second half of the Super Bowl, because, as everyone knows, those games are often not very super...
Free speech is seemingly pretty costly these days...
Sorry for the political references... lets get back to wrangling about slot car tires, OK?

Don't worry, Greg, I took it as a compliment. I know what Mark is getting at. While I don't promote them, I have sold those guides to raceways at a discount.

Mike:
Yes, my post was a complement. I looked at my new Red Fox guides and realized there is no way I could add a pin without ruining half of the package. My hat is off to your skill and ingenuity. (My post was intended to be a lighthearted dig and assumed you did not view this endeavor to be huge boost to your 401K.)
I don't think I have ever talked to you so you must be thinking of a different idiot that races as RIR.

Did they buy some of your new Group F chassis? If I buy one from them "at full retail" can I get off your "hit" list?

No need, unless you really want to.
Greg and I misunderstood your post.
By my first reply, I obviously thought it was a reference to my pinned RF guides not being part of my regular C/R parts line.
Thanks for the kind words on them.
I've made a big effort to try to make them as good of a product as practically possible.

All the * premium donuts and tires are the special rubber.
Our local track stocks the T7S3N 790/400N 3/32", Natural Rubber for or Indy class using theJK208172W _ Cheetah C35 Wide Chassis M7 Motor 64 Pitch 3/32" Axle w/o Body. We'll have our second race of this class on the 29th of this month.
Are there different "Natural Rubbers" that JK makes and is there softness/hardness specifications for each?
What does the N designate on the 400? Does the "A" Natural Rubber designate anything?

Hey David...
As a long time user of JK products, I will try to answer your questions.
The N stands for natural, untreated rubber. The 400 is wheel diameter, 400 thousands of an inch. 0.400".
The "A" following 3/32" just means axle.
I think that the tire material is currently limited to Natural, Treated Natural, and Wonder, which I think is a natural synthetic blend.
The Premium rubber mentioned in earlier posts was a limited availability item. I bought 10 pair. I wish I had bought more.
Additionally they offer several wheel diameters.
You can see their products HERE.
Please purchase from your local raceway whenever possible.
