It's nice of them to put suggested gears on the package, except it's useless information if you don't know what size tires they recommend with them. Maybe I'm missing something. Am I supposed to be running an industry standard size tire for all my cars??? FINAL DRIVE RATIOS, PLEASE?

Red,
You're absolutely right that tire size is an important part of the equation. So would the track - big difference between a punch bowl King and an American Black or similar flat track.

and Voltage out he is low I would try a 14/36 right off the Bat on our King BPR
and go from there
That would be for our Grp F cars

Forrest said it will be legal now.
We blewup many PS fk yesterday, not a good situation for a racing program, so thats the reason Forrest made that call.

How hot is the Phoenix arms wound compared to the other FK motors on the market? I assume its hotter, but will the next batch be even hotter, perhaps with a new name?
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

Larger wire and stronger magnets for this motor.

I didn't get a chance to run full laps with my wing car as it wasn't handling--but I did get some partial laps in and the motor is BALLISTIC!! This will NOT be a new retro motor--IMHO-- because it's WAY too fast!! It will be a very inexpensive really FAST motor to run in it's own class. There's nothing out there quite like it. It will be interesting to see how it works out in King Track LMP cars and the Wing car class's at BPR. It will be fun to see how it goes--how consistent etc.

Roger just came by with Gary Gerding to say "Hi", and left me with some.
They appear to have hard NEO mags in them.

Tim,
I agree with you Tim. This thing is waaaay too fast to be a Retro motor but maybe good for Retro Pro. Probably an excellent $100.00 wing car motor.

I"ve got to say congrats to Roger for coming up with the cheapest horsepower available today!! These babies can really move---maybe change flexi racing to a true driver's class on a flat track. You're not going to simply hammer the car around with one of these babies!!

1/2 second faster than a Hawk 7 on our 220' Altec. However, mine had the poles reversed and mis-marked. Anyone else experience this?

What would you compare these motors to?
There is already a thread on this: http://slotblog.net/...oenix-fk-motor/

Yes---Craig had one with the sticker reversed---so it appeared the motor spun the WRONG way!! Roger said these have zero timing--so does that mean you could run them in either direction?? The ones I have seen don't have the positive marked well at all!! Looking at the end bell side --the armature should spin counter clockwise for a standard motor correct?? Anyway--that's the direction mine runs the fastest--even if there IS zero timing!!
I DID get a chance to run one in a Group F wing car---it's VERY consistent in time from lap to lap!! The Retro Hawks were 3.3 -3.2 motors--the FK motors run 3.1 for me--and the Phx motor ran consistent 2.9's with an occasional 2.8. But the laps were within a few hundredths of each other!!! Like 5 in a row at 2.92 and then one or two at 2.89--then 5 more at 2.92-3! Amazingly consistent and they ran BETTER when they got warm!! The gearing I ran was the 13/37 reccomended one by Roger---the 4 different motors I know ran that day all ran from 2.8- 2.98-- we will learn more on July 1 as that is our next wing car race with the Phx motors!! Stay tuned!!

Not sure where you are getting your information!!!! Craig's motor that threw a wind. It had the sticker on correctly, it was not reversed, as have all of the Phx motors I have seen!!!! and it was marked with a red dot on the positive lead!!!! Craig DID install it in the car "reversed" with the sticker facing to the rear of the chassis so the lead wires were "straight" as he described, but if he wired the positive lead to the red tab of the motor that should not have mattered!!!!!
BTW - Roger asked me to replace the motor with a new one right after the Thursday night race!!!!

From CRAIG!! He has a picture of one he was putting in a car and the sticker was reversed!! Just ask HIM! The picture was on facebook. and I didn't say anything about the motor he blew.
