The Matich is finally done except for the urethane tires I have coming from Paul's. They should be here Tuesday and I'm anxious to give them a try.

I finished the livery off with some nice decals from Patto's Place:

I think it looks much like a real car.........

and it's has Pro Car replica running gear:

Track test with urethane tires is coming.

Absolutely gorgeous Rick !!! :good: ..............it appears that you have applied the decals on the outside of the body ??,...........I am sure that you are well aware that you can apply the decals on the inside before painting (If durability is an issue).

Once the decal releases from the backing paper, flip it over and rub it on the backing paper to pick up some glue....apply the decal as per normal,....some micro set is a good idea.

Once applied and dried, give the decals a light shot of clear,.......this will seal the decal edges and eliminate any bleeds.

Cheers

Hi Chris and Martin and thanks for the kind words.

As for the decals (and the exhaust pipes for that matter) I'm building the same way I had fun doing it back in the 60's.

Others are certainly welcome to do it differently and tips on other methods are always welcome.  :)

Isaac, if you haven't gone through Rick's subforum of builds on Slotblog yet, I suggest you do so. He has many builds there that'll dazzle your eyes. This car, while outstanding, is typical Rick quality.  :)

Thank you guys. I really like the way these 1968 Lancer Super Competition Bodies look when they are painted and detailed.

Here are 3 of the first 6 Super Comp bodies listed in the 1968 Auto World Catalog on the track, the Honker, Matich and King Cobra:

Two late inlines and an early anglewinder:

The other 3 listed in AW were the McLaren Mk6, Ferrari P4 Can Am and one I'm still looking for, the Chaparral 2G.....

As the Brits would say (and possibly Martin), I'm just gobsmacked how lovely those are! Does this mean we can expect builds of the McLaren and Ferrari soon?  ^_^

You bet Larry. I'm going to mix things up a bit first with a "magazine car". I've been wanting to build it since I saw the construction article as a kid in 1965.

Beautiful cars! I am working on using a virgin Lancer Super Comp McLaren MK6A combined with Mike Morrisey style chassis right now.

The real Honker II is being sold by RM. Also included in the sale is a Lola T70 MK3. https://rmsothebys.c...nker-ii/1074514

Hi Rick, After seeing your cut down Cox Lotus 30/40 wheels (for inserts), I am unashamedly going to copy you as I need some inserts for a Lotus 56 (Graham Hill Indy 68) that I am building.

For my eye, your Matich is probably my favourite of your many incredible builds.  :clapping:

Cheers

Looking forward to seeing your McLaren Mk6 Isaac.   :victory:

Thanks Chris. I like the look of those 60's diecast wheels too. Can't wait to see your finished Lotus.
