Well there’s been a lot of back and forth on this issue with sealed motors etc.

From my perspective I want to leave the issue on one word

Integrity

Everyone reading this should know what that word means

And if you use that as a basis for whom you are and what you stand for it will carry you far

I am old going to be 74 this year, I am a combat veteran of two major conflicts and in my normal course of work I held lives in my hands as a airline captain for a major carrier for more years than I can think of.

Nothing beats someone coming up to you and saying

“ I like the way you did that or handled that, you got it right”

Walking that path isn’t easy but the dividends are huge.

The only time you should cheat is in combat!

Because there are lives on the line, and yes I have been there.

And even in combat there are RULES OF ENGAGEMENT that must be followed if you can believe that!

signing off on this topic

headed to the Viper Pit to race on Monday night with some great guys

Hey Boss: I have looked all over (really I have) to find the rules for your GRC Hot Rod class. Any help is appreciated.

I am assuming it's something close to box stock, but I wanted to check before I start building.

Thanks in advance.

That's thirty minutes away. I'll be there in ten.

Check the website. Although I know it has been updated, the rules for the FCR class are the same.

We are using the Dirt modified body now this series MG, the motor is a 501 Death Star. No holes or offset on the chassis 4 1/2 inch FCR, you can brace the rear end, basically that’s it

Hope this helps

When I try to download rules on your website, it wants a GoDaddy login and password.

I havent figured out how to get past that.

Heading out west to California to race Retro again.

Hopefully will do better this time.

Going with Dennis from Canada he always makes it a fun trip.

Doesn't look like many East Coast racers will be coming I know Dom will be there.

Handout motors in 2 classes!

Thats going to be interesting in itself.

I already know the flat track racing for me will be a religious experience!

Stay tuned for the results.

all packed up

I always like when flyers ask me what's in the box

I tell them it's a B-61 (Goggle it)

we sat alert with them in Europe during the Cold War

The B-61 is a thermo-nuclear device, an atom bomb. Generally fee-fall and unguided, they can be parachute stabilized or use spin motors to create spin to stabilize it's fall. ( did I get it right, Clyde?) I believe they are over 10 feet long. How did you get one in that little box?  :victory:

Anyway, the best of luck out there, but most of all, have a good time.

Vintage racing, we attempted to have a race at my track this last Saturday- it didn't happen, but all was not lost. Most of us there were of the age when we were rewinding motors and we talked about the hobby back then in the early 60's.

it was refreshing to say the least, it brought me back and others back to a time when the hobby was changing rapidly, something new every week; ball bearings in motors, hot winds with 26/27 wire (how many turns per pole?), blow proof comms, epoxy that cured fast, tires, silicone tires, qual braid.

it was like getting in the way back machine!

Bodies and how they have changed over the years and how the end bells had to change, we had all melted one!

and who came up with the shunted brushes, that we all used?

Brush hoods where did that come from?

elephant ears where did come from? we all used them

Magnets and shimming them and zappers

and what about using AA batteries in the brake line? remember that?

Controllers, when Russkit came out with the trigger controller how it was revolutionary

MRC controller with the variable ohm slider was the trick one at the time

and the ARM wars, for me up in the NYC area it was Cobra vs Mongoose and Mura and Champion

Mura and Champion put an end to home winds from then on it was the magnet wars

and who can remember balancing arms on razor blades? I can.

and who can forget Pittman Can when it came out, with ball bearings!

Anyway, it was a great get-together of older racers to talk about the past and where are today.

Just thought I would share this with you.

Take care, summer is almost here, support the tracks during the summer months or there will not be there in the fall.

Until then

Wow almost half the year has by gone its already June! What happened?

Anyway, we had a decent spring retro series down here in the south.

Wish I wasn't going to the Canadian GP in Montreal, I would be headed to Retropalloza to meet up with my Japanese racers who are coming this year. Haruki, Tabu, Kamo, Sammy all guys I raced with at their track in Japan last August

Next year I will be at that race because I have been going to the Canadian GP since 1992 !

Enough already.

The vintage racers in my neck of the woods can't wait for the next event.

Just a heads up we are holding the GRC/FCR Nationals at our track in October.

Working on getting hotels together before releasing a date.

We have some great sponsor already line up for this event.

So, stay tuned.

That's it racers, July 4th is right around the corner and next thing you know Labor Day!

Stay safe gentlemen

Clyde

PS: On Monday, the 27th, which was Memorial Day, I went to the local Veterans Cemetary for an event honoring those who gave all for our country.

Hey Clyde:

I'm sure you have already thought of this but please put a week (or better yet two weeks) between your GCR/FCR race and the St. Pete Retro Rumble.

Wow, where did half the year go? It's July already.

Anyway, all raceways struggle to get racers to race during the summer months. I just held a retro race at my track, and we had only 4 racers.

But you know what it was great, we had a fantastic time and raced hard.

We all came away with smiles and if you look at the results, that I posted we were very close and hardly anyone came off

I was pleasantly surprised by how this all turned out and how the racers thoroughly enjoyed themselves

sometimes Less is More!

Clyde

See you at the track!

Well summer is definitely upon us with triple digit heat almost everywhere; on a different note, I was made aware of Noose having surgery and that it all went well.

If you never had the experience of Noose looking at your car to see if its legal, well you've missed something as far as I am concerned

Noose if you're reading this, recover quickly, the hobby needs you!

Well, that's it for now, I might make the retro race in Denver area in August if I don't go overseas.

I really wanted to go to Duffy's race in July, but I will be in the Carribean with the grandkids while they are out of school.

There's a retro race in North Georgia appropriately named, can' wait to see the results on that one!

Stay safe and healthy Covid is still out there.

Those of you who frequent Facebook are aware of the site Slot Car Race Talk

there is an individual on that site selling a tool that he claims can open the sealed motors without any marks showing that it has been tampered with

needless to say, the majority of us racers have been questioning why this individual from Argentina has been allowed to advertise his

product on this Facebook site that is viewed by us slot car racers.

This individual has opened up a pandoras box so to speak, with regards to the sealed motors we all use in retro

When others and I want him removed he attacks so naturally we all, myself included respond in kind

I must admit I was wrong by doing this, even though this individual said I purchased his motor tampering device, which is a lie by the way, but you can't disprove a negative.

Those of you who know me and have raced with me know I don't cheat and don't bend the rules

Thats why some racers don't race at my track, and I am good with that.

Bottom line

I should have stayed out of this child like behavior on Facebook

As a raceway owner you have to take the high ground and I failed to do so in this case.

It's my hope that the racers ignore this individual with his tampering device, and it never sees the light of day

Clyde,

Have you expressed your displeasure with the mods of that FB page or just tried to spar with the maker of the tool?

When people have sparred with him on another FB page, he just asks how many tools do they want to order, makes unprovable assertions and "You can't possibly shame me" comments.

I was sparing with the maker of the tool and

yes unfortunately that’s exactly what happened

unprovable assertions of purchase of his product

some unfortunately bought into the narrative

which subsequently causes people to believe your are cheating

you understand this because your an adult and a business man

but there are those out there that are still acting like their  shoe size !
but you can’t fix that.
