Thank you for the clarification.
And thank you for taking on the absolutely thankless job of being the BOD's spokesperson.

I think going forward the track owners need to have there tracks race ready 2 weeks prior to any race going forward. If that means they do what they need 3 weeks out so be it, if that means they didn't have time then the track conditions are what they are for the race.
Myself and another racer tried to practice and the track in Pinellas Park on the 30th and the track wasn't glued. So we couldn't test, I know it wasn't intentional but there needs to be fail safes in place for racers that want to practice prior to the race.
Not everybody racing in these events have raced on every track in the series. Even if a person has been on the track it doesn't mean the track should be ready at 2 weeks out for racers to practice. Not every racer has weekends off to travel and practice when convenient for the track owners. Every track we race on has restricted hours, it's a 2nd income if the owner is lucky enough to be making money, so I get the restricted hours but the traveling racers need to know within of a certain time frame that the track will be up and running so they can test for a race, if that's too much to ask for then I guess I'll need to find a different hobby or stick to racing weekly where I want.
Aaron posted on Monday that the tracks were cleaned and glued last week so it seems that you were just a victim of bad timing with your trip to Pinellas Park. It's time consuming to clean, glue, and break-in the track so I guess there could be times when there's a gap between cleaning and gluing. Usually a fluke like having a spray bottle stop working.
I guess you probably should have called first if it's that important to you. Though ... Ed posts his monthly race calendar on Facebook every week. I know that Ed's only closed on Sundays and Tuesdays so it seems like there are plenty of opportunities to grab some track time.
BTW .... There's no such thing as getting to practice in the exact same conditions as what you'll find on race day. Because every time the track gets used, the conditions change ... at least a little.
When Ed's track - The Fastest Hillclimb in the South - was in Jacksonville, we cleaned and prepped the track the first Monday of every month. I can also tell you that the lap times and lap count for our races changed very, very little as the month went on. At the beginning of the month we were racing on glue ... and the end of the month we were racing on rubber. Either way, there was grip that was fairly consistent.

If the track was right 2 weeks prior to the race as I posted there would be no issues.
The series will be fine with one less person.
BTW it's common sense the track surface would be different.
You'll be missed. I was looking forward to seeing you this weekend.
Ask some of the old timers about a trip to Halifax Raceway in Ft. Myers about 20 years ago (give or take.) When some guys showed up to practice they found that the locals liked racing on dirt and rubber as the track hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. So ... they grabbed some naphtha and rags and cleaned the track for the owner and re-glued it.

Is it too much to ask THE TRACK OWNERS to have the tracks ready for the race 2 weeks out?
One shouldn't need to call the facility to see if the tracks are operational. I understand this wasn't planned or on purpose. But there should be steps in place so this doesn't happen again.
I can't speak for Ed, Marcus, and Mike .... but when we were open in Jacksonville .... Yes, that would have been too much to ask.
Because ... as I said before ... We cleaned the track the 1st Monday of every month and were blessed to have 5 to 7 racers that showed up every month to help.. Changing that schedule would have meant that we might not have as much help. Johnny and I only had to clean that track by ourselves a couple of times and it was zero fun.
No way I would change my track cleaning schedule because a racer or two from out of town MIGHT want to come practice.
So depending on how the calendar worked out ... sometimes our track was cleaned 5 days before a State Race and sometimes it was cleaned almost 2 weeks before a State Race. Ask around ... I never heard anyone complain about the track conditions in Jacksonville whether it was for a State Race or an open track night.

I've told some guys that I'm willing to help them ... but I'm not putting my name on a lease. Nor am I working weekends again.
I'm not as picky.
A Hillclimb, Grandstand, Ingleman, or orange would also make me happy.
We had a lot of good times racing in Jacksonville.
South Daytona will soon have a six-lane 155 ft modified blue King design.

We did have a lot of good times in Jacksonville. We were blessed to have racers that usually - not always - brought a good attitude to the track and were always willing to help anyone.
And, I know I saw you and Biscuit help a bunch of racers as well when you were in our raceway.
Kings and big Englemans are fun... but they mostly just mean the rent is going to be higher.

I recognize that place. It's Donn Bryan's shop where my track was refurbed. He does great work but be careful if you try to go there, iI's guarded by several huge, really intimadating Great Danes that look down at you in your car window!
BTW...the new track looks awesome, can't wait to race on it!
