Tested both cars before the SERRA race at Atlanta Slot Car Raceway on 6-4-22 and the angle winder and the inline are both fun to drive.
The inline was constantly turning low 5.2 second laps, fairly quick lap time on the 165 ft. hill climb.
The track was in great shape for racing.
TQ for the 4.5 inch IRRA stock car class was a 5.3 something.
TQ for the IRRA Can-Am class was a 4.7 something.
The Hill Climb.
The angle winder was quicker than the inline and was turning 5.0 laps on the same lane. (green lane).
Also used the same set of tires on both cars, Alpha big full hub Piranha 820's.
The angle winder is lower in the front (.015 clearance and .050 at the rear)
Inline is at .050 front and rear, so that has something to do with the 2 tenths time difference.
To sum it all up, I had fun building and testing these cars.
Would like to see other builders build similar designs and have some racing.
I do think the inline design would be the best bet for a retro style car in order to not stray too far off the existing IRRA Stock Car rule set.
The only difference to the existing chassis rules on the inline chassis is that the chassis is a 4 inch wheel base and is a 3.125 inch chassis width.
Thanks for all the comments, lets go race!!!
