If the poor quality pulls they have on ebay are anything to go by, the market will be even narrower!

I agree. For all, I lowered prices on ebay all bodies i have at 7.00 each.

Man, I grabbed some images of repo bodies on ebay. Vent holes for sure in the correct place would help, but total rejects IMO.

Bob Molta at Slot Car Central told me that "Big_boy" is the boyfriend or husband of Bob Haines daughter. 

 

He's not very knowledeable about slot car parts. He sold me a package of "Jet Flags" that were actually Starburst guides. When I asked for a return he refused even though I sent him pictures of actual Jet Flags to prove he was wrong. He blocked me from bidding on his auctions.

The Srarburst guides I've had, have all had straighter guide posts than some of the Jet guides. But they're not valued as a vintage item. IIRC, Jet guides that had the number 5 on them were the ones we desired using because they had the straightest posts. I think the Jet guide molds were numbered 1-7 or 1-9.

You are correct. A lot of issues present themselves depending on the complexity of the body. Your pre-war Grand Prix body is far more difficult to pull than, say, a Lotus 40.

I sent you a PM. Bodies on me ....paint them up and post pictures of them here so we all can enjoy them. I  just need shipping cost. I ran the bodies tonight the ford GT MKII is from TSRF remake of lancer. I did win the original today so be glad to get you another later. I thiink it will pull better I understand why lancer has a base. On the lola it is the dynamic no headlamp version This is from the original dynamic mold I bought from victor over 8 years ago. I have the lancer lola but it needs work to run. If TSRF is still making bodies, I believe victor had the lancer body since I aquired the rubber mold from him,  but not sure he is still making bodies.

The dynamic is sweet, you will like it.  I pulled the bodies  in .015 so they should be great as runners and not to heavy.

I threw in a couple interiors I ran years ago. I also threw in a test example of the K&B Ford GT MKII interior. Not the best pull it was one of the earlier beta pulls as I was working on the mold but maybe you can make something with it.

My vacuum room is located in a finished basement and has a door. Has heat and AC. I like the humidity aground 53 %.

I cut 4 x 8-foot sheet plastic for the bodies there also. This room has all my molds about a 120. Each mold is kept in a plastic bag in a drawer until needed.

The room where I make molds is about 50 feet away from the vacuum room and it can get messy in there, so clean up as you go.

 

Now making bodies, take a microfiber cloth and spray with glass cleaner and wipe the platen and vacuum table down, also wipe down each piece of plastic before you remove the protective film, if you don't any dust on the film will transfer to the plastic piece. Wipe your mold down with a tack cloth. Lastly where a clean T-shirt as lint from your clothes can become flyable and will transfer to your plastic.

 

Sounds crazy but I don't like an ugly body with dust and lint. I try my best to make a as good or better body than an original; this also includes making a high-quality mold. 

I like doing this so the hobbyists can enjoy recreating there dream cars, but it can be time consuming.

I have many of Genes bodies and I can say without hesitation they are as great or better than an original. 

 

If a builder is going to spend the time to make a nice reproduction car choose a quality body.

My bodies are not bad but Genes and Victors are the best manufactured bodies around.  Both pull really nice and detailed bodies with out allot of dust.

  Appreciate the information. Humidity is a buzz kill on bodies. I have always wondered and, should probibly try, to see if a static matt could help cut down on the static electricity the plastic gets with the protective film.

It's really difficult to remove or prevent static electricity with non-conductors. Use an anti-static mat, anti-static solution/spray, and an air ionizer. You might even want to try a human ground strap, so that charges on the body don't influence the plastic. Higher humidity makes the air more conductive, and ionizers are really useful, but the ionized air has to blow directly onto the material to be neutralized. In the electronics industry, we were trying to prevent static generated by non-conductors from zapping our sensitive components, and useful products were created to minimize static charges on plastics.
