Markus sent me a chassis that I built couple years ago. In fact I built him 9 total chassis inspired and based on Mike Steube's, then current, design.
![Posted Image](http://images31.fotki.com/v1042/photos/1/1100664/5611264/chassisfinal-vi.jpg)
This one is #007 and came with the Parma guide and ProSlot motor already installed. Markus' request was to set it up - then paint and mount a body. He had three bodies listed as his fav's.... this one was the only one I had so. The E.D. Porsche was it!
I was hoping to take it to the track on Sunday for testing but some ordered equipment had yet to arrive from NCP. However, I found it in my mail box Monday so.... missed the track test by "THAT MUCH"! (apologies to Don Adams)

![Posted Image](http://images47.fotki.com/v1476/photos/1/1100664/5611264/P1010065-vi.jpg)
The front wheels are cut down from some old dry wheels that I keep for just this purpose. Since Markus requested "Daytonas" which have an aluminum hub... I cut down the wheels with a hack saw blade on the tire truer. The fronts are IRRA legal width and diameter.

Well... post office is closed today. Veterans Day and of course when you work 24/7 holidays mean little unless the bank or post office is closed.
Oh well.
Thank you Veterans, I raise a bottle of brew to your gallant service to this wonderful country!

It is a 1950 Buick Special molded in PETG. I shot it and hand painted the door shield. Also added a flashing light on the roof.
The light may not be strickly "Period Korrect", but it was all I had and I think it looks cool. Just push on the light and it flashes blue and red for 30 seconds. Perfect for a drag racer I think.

Where did you find that body?
My Dad had a car like that. What a big beast! As I said had. One day someone pulled out in front of Dad and there was nothing Dad could do except to hit the person that pulled out in front of him. Kind of bent the grill up a bit. The other car was hauled off on a flatbed trailer. As I said, what a big beast!
Back then the Buick had vacuum windshile wipers. If you were going up hill or trying to accelerate, the wipers slowed way down! Try passing someone in a storm and having to take your foot off the gas halfway through the pass!
I'd love to find a 2 door version in 1 to 1 size to restore!
Great car!
Yes, you do need Broderick Crawford as in "Highway Patrol" for a driver.

Unfortunately it's the writing of the rules that tends to be the big problem...
Well let's see here . . . . rules are made up of words.
We have word processors . . . .
I really don't see the problem.
I have to agree with Don.
Now if we can find some Hudsons, Chevrolets, Pontiacs, Oldmobiles, Dodges, Plymouths, Fords, Mercurys and such from back then . . . .
Talk about period stock cars!
Bill France would be proud!
Just think we can race "The Southern 500" which is one of the oldest BIG track races in all of stock car racing!

I suggested a simply proxy race using open pittman motors and the discussion got so heated that I dropped the whole project because the fact that I wanted to allow replacement magnets created so much animosity!
No... I will never suggest a new racing series, nor will I take part in any rule discussion. I will play once the rules are set but some of these guys are mean! Just plain MEAN when it comes to racing and rules!
However, that said, my rules would be 36d NASCAR motors, brass wire and brass pan frames In-line or sidewinder only. Minimum 1" diameter wheels with inserts and decals REQUIRED!
But I am almost sure some one would have a problem with the wheel diameter, or the motor choice or the body selection or the.....

Up until not too long ago, I did not know about Slotblog.
D3 happened before that time.
Whatever the rules, I just want to race. Set them up and I'll follow them.
Let's race and not worry about all the politics. I just want to have FUN!
If we come up with a class that uses Pittman 704 type motors, I'll be there.

But what a cool race class that would be indeed. I have a similar-looking big old 1/24 diecast that will sit on the vac table happily. Don't know what any of these '50s US beasts are exactly, but they're gorgeous.
Your Police paint job is fab. What was Car 54? And where is it now?

And Jairus, next time you pick up a cool unusual vintage bod like that, there are folks out here GAGGING to pour plaster 'n rubber 'n whatever it takes to REPOP! Now it's painted and sailing off on the winds of eBay, never to be seen again.....
Well... you know that really never occurred to me. Mostly because besides the grill the rest of the car I felt was ugly, which was why I sat on it for 6 years. I apologize now that I have been scolded...
![:laugh2:](http://slotblog.net/public/style_emoticons/default/laugh2.gif)
Still have lots of cool old bodies here. Let me take inventory and will let you know.
K?
On another note... I have tons of plastic here. Old fifties coupes and the like... it would take very little prep to make a mold from them and they would be way better proportioned in my opinion. If a racing series were considered we could have a fleet of at least 5 different manufacturers in no time!

I wish to make a public apology to you, Jairus. I didn't MEAN for you to see my discussing your pittman class as "heat". I was just chatting.
If you look at the rules in "lost cause"..... We ended up doing the cars. The idea is to me that we start as friends and just discussing this stuff. I am having a blast watching people build uncompetitive cars for the fun of it.
Anyway, you said the Buick was 60s and in PETG. I didn't think that was around then in bodies. Are you sure it isn't buterate?
In 1/32 a number of these types of cars were done by the brits. Charlie Fitzpatric did some, and a few of the guys I don't know did. A couple of my friends have done the Chrysler 300M of 57 or so.
10 years ago, we had a vibrant 36d class going locally. Some of us were running retreds from the 60s for fun, and REH was selling a cheap 36d powered new kit using repoped "Sportsman" bodies. I modified one like you suggest above. I replaced the wire/o-ring thingie front with model kit 1" fronts, and 1 1/8th drag smoothie rears for a Ford GT.
But I followed that up with a 57 Tbird!
Until the track closed off racing we had about 20 guys with multiple cars each on this simple formula like yours. No hinges, inline or full sidewinder 36ds 1" or taller tires. Simple and fun.

The first is an original Butyrate Russkit Cro-sal Olds Can-Am. The interior is actually a GP interior with enough flat area around the figure to trim and make it fit. Photos of the original car show the driver sitting way up high so I trimmed the back of the seat away some so that the interior flat mounted flush with the body. Looks pretty close to me. The paint is Parma Fas-kolor and this one took more than an hour to trim due to the thin material at the back corners. Don't like that material or having to use Parma paint. But it turned out pretty well.

This little Mini Dream body was molded in thick material that seems to be Acetate or sheet Styrene. Use of anything but enamels was necessary with all painting. The decals were actual vintage and match the original production prototype very closely. The decals were applied to the exterior, however they were sealed with acrylic clear to ensure they not peel off. (Incidentally, decals do not like to stick to bare plastic for some reason. They do however, stick well to a painted surface, even clear!)

There are tons of 50's model bodies out there, if someone wants to pull bodies and do a vintage stock car series.
In fact, A 53 Hudson and a Chysler are scheduled for release this year.
