Jairus,

What Lotus 40 body is that?

I really like the 'scallops' on the helmet! Very prototype on the era!

But, I've come to expect that from you.

Another super paint job! Thanks for sharing.

Not sure Marty. Painted a couple of those before but not E.D. and not T.S. so... your guess is good as mine. Provided by the owner so ask him.

Thank you Joe! ;)

Finished one up yesterday afternoon. It is a Russkit Rally Dune Buggy and quite rare so screwups were not allowed! Since it was molded in vintage material (buyrtate or PETG) I shot the base color with Parma FasKolor and used enamels for the driver details. The engine was shot with Alclad II (yeah, that's a lacquer) but I doubt it was enough to damage the material. I could have added a windshield, roll bar and a bunch of engine details but the instructions were to keep the car as stock and "Russkit" as possible with just painted details. So a lot of restraint was needed with this one...

Hi

I have NEVER seen this body in person. Just as an aside, I doubt it was PETG just because I don't think it was around in the 60s.

I always admire your stuff. All my "taste" is in my mouth, and I can make anything look ugly!

Finally! I get to see drivers actually holding the steering wheel. So many of the new drivers look like their hands are stuffed into petrified mittens. Nice to see someone get it right.

Todd, that's the way the Russkit body is molded. The original mold was handcrafted by Ron Von Klein who made most of the Russkit molds in the mid-1960s. Jairus did a very good job of making it life like. To complete, this body needs the flat rectangular windshield that was glued on the original model, seen here in its original box. Please note that the decals on this particular model have been added by the customer as the original did not have any. Easy to remove with a warm water bath and a toothbrush.

John's body is a slightly modified version of the Riggen-Brimhall body issued in 1969. As usual, John did a nice job. Here is a period car using the original item:

1968_jack_norton_lotus_1.jpg

1968_jack_norton_lotus_2.jpg

This modified Lotus was built by Jack Norton in 1969. Riggen also issued a Lola T70 body following the same lines of thought, with added large front and rear spoilers.
