Cry like a baby, drive like a girl, walk like a man.
Give me enough rope and I'll build a fast car... or hang myself?

Mike these little motors are sweet, a bundle of potential. You have to replace a lead wire with a1/2 watt 10 or 15 ohm resister The ones with NEO mags are actually too powerfull and easily overpower the car. Like a 1/24 G7 wing car , you do not want to free rev the motor at full power. It will eat itself up.
Pat I gotta get my 4 gear done!

Not much is more satisfying than a good running slot car that YOU made from scratch

Got that right, Al! Give it a go, Karl, can motor or pancake, build, thrash, tune. If you don't like it, rip it up, do it again! Nothing like the smell of hot brass and burning dremel discs (fingertips, too...). And to me, these BRASCAR/Gravity Unlimited cars are much more fun to drive. On my track, a 1.8 sec lap with a SS Wizzard is boring to me compared to a 4.2 with a G.U. car. And, you really have to build the G.U. car, rather than bash a bunch of parts together. Yes, I know, I haven't raced HO on the national level in over 35 years, never have really ran a magnet car in anger, but, just my take.

Sorry about the nerf. "Sorry? Sorry? There's no apologizing in slot car racing!"
Besides, where would I even begin? I should probably start with my wife ...

Darn! Almost sounds like a thespian! Does that art mix with slot car racing?

For Matt, Sluggo can cut the TCP size foam, he made a cutter a couple of years ago and cut a bunch for me. I still have several dozen pair of original TCP foam (foam only) and amazingly they are still soft. About a year ago I bought a new Sherline lathe, I hope to make up some more of the TCP replica rear rims. I only work on the stuff in the winter so it's slow going.
AJ, you mentioned something about if plastic idlers were period correct, they are, they actually first appeared on the Tuff Ones. Occasionally a card of them under the Tuff Ones name will show up. Back in the day I remember melting one in a club race, as long as the car was moving things were fine, well fine other then the motor was hot as all blazes, when we stopped for lane change the heat transfer from the armature gear wiped out the teeth on the idler, I have run brass ever since. But on the other hand I have also learned how to get my cars to run cooler.
Pat, I believe Tom also made an 8 lane counter, I have some NOS original labels for each, I'll have to dig them out and post some pictures.
Pat, what was the deal with the card? Did Chauncey and Tom produce something together?
Pat, when building the TCP Pro Pan add a piece of .032 brass rod down the edges, that brings the width out just right, 1/4" flat bar for the shaker will fit perfect.
Speaking of TCP, I still have lots of NOS TCP pans, especially the Pro Pans (stock pickups) if anybody wants to jump on the Brass Band Wagon.
Pat, I have a 4 gear in mind to do, so little time! Doug

John, Chauncey was more or less the head of the Saginaw, Mi racing club in the day.
BTW, I'll fess up here, dropped my three cars and DiFalco off to AJ yesterday to race at Lucky Bob's in June, Doug, he tells me you sent him a car, too! Got me scared to death, nothing like being overshadowed by the master!

Yeah I sent AJ what was the fastest car in my possesion as of the Big Buck Shootout. It was turning faster times then the car I won with but it seemed too light and was a little harder to drive. I added some weight to it but didn't test it, it should be pretty good. I'm sure he will run the car that feels the most comfortable to him on race day, it's hard to tune a car from 300 miles away. I know you remember Dan, he threw a roll of tape at you once to get your attention to marshal his car.
And I'm still quite scarred from the incident.......
