to be perfectly clear...
Alpha and Thunder rubber is rountinely used with CanAm's on high speed King tracks in Retro Racing back East, because it's faster. These tires have spilled over to D3 racing at BPR; a few CPC racers have these tires and they have not and we're not purchased at BPR.
It should be made perfecty clear if these tires are legal for next weeks race, they are not in stock at BPR, but if legal I will purchase them elsewhere myself this week.

All rubber is available by asking Jim or Debbie to order it. Easy, quick, and you can get it in 3 days if you wish. AT Eagle distributing, ask for Floyd , he is more than happy to sell it to any raceway. I have talked to him, a very nice guy. Lots of information, and will sell to Buena Park.

Once again, if you need Thunder Rubber, try Port Jeff, John Gorski , or Jim and Debbie. They can order it for you, and test away till your hearts content. Obviously, you knew about the tires running on the East Coast, so order some. You can not keep forcing manufacturers out just because someone did not place an order. No wonder this hobby is shrinking.
P.S.S. I blame Ron Hershmann, Ron it must be your fault right ????
P.S.S.S. Jonathan, I am glad that all of your chassis will work well with just JK tires, but some of us have chassis that handle better with different tires. Paul Sterrett runs SBR rubber on his Jail Door Chassis because his cars are designed to work with it, does not mean that EVERYONE should have to use the rubber that Paul has. Otherwise, why don't we just run IROC, TSR CARS at the Checkpoint Cup to determine who is the best ?

I thought you were using these tires all along You mean to tell me you are finally comming clean easy now Doug!
Keith,
I understand fully and thank you for your reply! I'm comming down to BP to see my friends and hang out with them, watch some good racing, do some racing on the "ONLY" banked track that I have hooked my contoller up to in a long time. And above all.... Have a good time I'll be OK with my grease intake from "IMPERIAL" to make it through the week-end, until I get home for some "GOOD HOME COOKING" If not....I'll just see my "BUDDY" .....
.... I know he will give me some of his fruit salad to fill the void. Won't you Philippe? I know if you ever came up here to race, I would feed you a gourmet meal right out of the kitchen from the "FOODMASTER" and that my friend, is your's truely..... A "EVIL BUCK$ RACING" kind of guy
As always my friends at "BP"

Dave, yeah I know Marie's is not the best, but it's not easy finding a place near BP which can handle 30 to 50 slotracers for dinner. Knott's was ok, but the pollsters indicated that "any" restaurant would be ok. In the future, I hope we can find a better place. Suggestions are welcome for the 2012 Checkpoint.
Keith
What's wrong with Marie Callenders? "They Suck", "They Blow", "A Horrible Pie Dump"???......... I never realized they were that bad and I didn't think this was going to be such a gathering of picky connoisseurs! What about Imperial Burger for 2012? Never any complaints there!! Watch Philippe devour that pastrami.......on Webcam!!
Just a word of thanks to Keith and Paul for all the time they put in with the D3 program at Buena Park in 2010!! Happy New Year and see you all next week!

To the best of my knowledge, BPR has never stocked Alpha Wonder rubber or hard king track Kelly tires for D3;
BPR stocks soft Kelly's for D3, and Alpha tires not large enough for D3;
so effectively BPR has never stocked any D3 tires besides JK, and soft Kelly's.
I spoke with BPR today and confirmed their current stock of D3 tires is JK and soft Kelly's,
I'll check tomorrow if they have ever stocked Alpha D3 sized tires and discuss this with Paul.
Sorry, but we all know you can simply drop a pair of Alpha Wonder or Thunder rubber in place of your JK tires and reduce your lap time by a tenth,
the D3 rules require legal tires must be regularly stocked at BPR, I want to make sure that is the case for this years CPC race.

Circle logic does not work here. Tires have been run at many of the races at Buena Park this year that were from Alpha , JK, Parma, Herman James, Lee Gilbert, Kelly and Thunder. Just because there were a few asleep at the wheel apparently now, as you stated some feel that Wonder Rubber or other tires make a difference. Great, use your money and buy them like the rest of us. They do not cost any more significantly, and I even gave you the names of where to get them. Would you ban 12 tooth pinions simply because Buena Park chooses not to carry them ? Well, then I guess a lot of cars would have been illegal .
Don't we have enough rules ? Paul has always been fair about tires, and if anyone could go to the counter and order them, last time I checked there have been 11 1/2 months to get the tires for this year's Checkpoint Cup. How about we all run legal size tires for a change???

I'd sure like chapter and verse on that Doug. I haven't found any reference on the D3 web page. Far as I can recall, only speed rubber and silicone is banned. I need to know how this will be resolved soon. There may not be time to get tires there, true them up, etc if I happen to arrive late.

We just run JK 's here on our Paperclip, so Wunder Rubber would be a speciality. There would be no stock of that here.
Yes, Scott does ship promptly and yes, I will be putting in a fast track order and yes, I'm planning to break 300 laps on the King, by shaving a tenth according to Doug. IF . . . . this gets resolved. Methinks that its not an issue. Is tech going to be checking for Wunder, Thunder anyway?

Call me crazy, but I just wonder how some can be so sure of what one tire or another can do if they have not had any experience with them ? Do you detect that some doth protest a little too much ???? Mark, hope to see you, the tire controversy is like the motor controversy and the take a number for the Buena Park Bathroom Motor Break in program. We are all just racing for fun , aren't we ????

I've always felt that my cars were too stuck on the King track, so I'm looking at hard tires. I can deal with some more slide in the corners as long as I can jet in the straight.
I was thinking of dipping the TSR units in diesel for motor break in.

I asked him if I could run Alpha Wonder rubber, he said yes if they are stocked and available at BPR on race day.
Personally, since tire tuning is a big parameter and big expense,
I would prefer a D3 tire spec that is more definitive, such as JK87xx tires only;
this would limit tire inventory racers and raceways need to stock.

I don't see ANY reference in the D3 Can Am or F 1 rules as to the brand or type of tires that can be used.
The only specification is the SIZE. Please post the rule or link that restricts the brand, type or vendor (BPR) that must be used to be legal.
Thanks.
PS - Plus- there is NOT even a reference to "illegal" tires (i.e. speed rubber, silicone, etc)
So much DRAMA for such small cars....
