Welcome Jens to Slotblog!
Results and some responses are also being posted at Slotforum. Which was the original home of most of the Thingie Proxies. However this year it seems to have gravitated to Slotblog since most of the entries are for the first time... from America!

Indeed congratulations go out to Rob for his excellent showing in Switzerland. Way to go MoparRob! :clapping:

Gentlemen
here's the arrivals with name, number of laps and the distance (in meters) where the car stops after the lap counter stops current:

Rob Hansen 86
Steve Kempson 82 + 10 meters
Gary Vogeler 82
John Dilworth 81
Mike Zimmerman 80
Ray Price 79
Jairus Watson 78 + 4
Steve King 78
Kathryn Barlett 76 + 15
Bob Steere 76 + 3
Al Bond 76
John Austin 74 + 13
Paul Walcott 74 + 3
Edo Bertoglio 74
Brian McPherson 72 + 12
John Havlicek 72 + 9
Dominic Zimmerman 72
Joe Lupo 71
Ray Fellows 69 + 5
Ralph Klose 69
Bob Israelite 68 + 1
Oscar Morales 68
Phil Smith 67
Jens Graf 65
Don Siegel 63

Racers stayed on their lane as assigned and cars moved from one lane to the next.
We were 6 racers organized in two teams and would shift the teams regularly as per computer instructions so that we would drive the same cars through all lanes.
While 3 racers raced, 3 would marshall.
Fastest lap was 5.8s by Blacklight (which at one point began to act erratically and lost 6 laps until we found one of the motor wire to the guide was shorting the track, it was then fixed with tape).
Slowest lap was 8.1 by anonimous car.

Thanks Edo.

Congratulations to Rob, Steve and Gary for the podium finish.

I was a little disappointed with Blacklight's 11th place, as it is her first time out of the top 5 (Only Low's Wavemaker still holds this stat). I thought that Blacklight's splendid run might be over (it may yet be lol), but if it hadn't have been for the loss of 6 laps due to the shorting wire, then she would have stood a chance of a podium finish. This bouys me up no end. (Edo, could you please take a look at that wire for me and make good before mailing the car onwards, thanks).

I can't wait for the full report and more wonderful pictures.

Thanks to Edo and the team for all their efforts with this leg of the series, I can't wait for the next race now.

Al

PS. Fastest Lap - Blacklight - 5.8s... Hey Barney, its nice to know that motor you worked on has some real ooomph.

Yes Al Congrats on the TQ! I'm Glad all have lasted so far. Who knows with those small brushes. This is why I went with 36D brushes just to get more life out of the motors. Good luck to you and that NOS Mura arm should have no problems at all. Your arm would have been faster but also would have had a ton more heat to try to keep cool!
I had a great day in KingieLand with some of my work and at BPR yesterday as motors I built ran 1st, 2nd and 5th in the race and qualified 2nd, 3rd and 4th! I also ran my best lap total in Retro F1 as well and was only a lap back of Mr. Warmack!

Good luck to all in Germany! At least my car should make it there in time.

Congrats to Rob's Streamliner, Steve's Wavemaker and Gary's Rocket for the podium finish.

Well done Edo, and many thanks to yourself, Franco, Allan, Maurizio, Joerg, Gabriele and Miss G for presenting a spectacular round.

It doesn't sound like you had too many dramas with the cars, which is great. Bad luck Al.
Also sorry that Orange Crate didn't get there on time.

I'm happy that Dynagram is holding together.

Can anyone knock that 'Supercuk' off of the podium? It's been there for three races out of five so far, as has 'Wavemaker'. Way to go MoparRob and Lowrider!
Some cars seem to be doing progressively better ('Dynagram' and 'Rocket-88'), while others are struggling to get back into the top tiers previously enjoyed. No explanations other than parts wear and no two tracks are the same. Ultimately it is a matter of creating something that can go the distance rather than win each and every race.
Time will tell and my thoughts are that this race should really have been run on no more than six tracks as equipment usually fails eventually.
At any rate, the current tally is attached.
Posted Image

Some changes should be noted (see Mubuchi Racha) as I got the total wrong after the last race for some reason. However all totals are on the master spread sheet! So if I make a mistake typing up the post.... it does not mean the master is incorrect. Also, shortly, I will post the midpoint results including Dynamic points awarded thus marking the half-way point in this fantastic around-the-world race. Dynamic points are currently locked in and will not change if bits and pieces wear out by the way.

Many thanks to Edo, Franco, Allan, Maurizio, Joerg, Gabriele and Miss G (What did she do anyway?) for all your hard work and a wonderful race.
Ciao and on to Germany.

I'll be happy to trade you your 11th for my ZERO in the BP round because my motor burnt up during qualifiing and the spares weren't at the track. Could of, would of, should of, it is what it is.

Almost 4?

Based on my Excel sheet I think Mike Zimmerman's Scorpion is car to beat when I run the numbers based on average finish and bonus points First place overall is my prediction, no worse than 2nd. Solid finishes and a deceint amount of bonus points Unless what I have for bonus points is wrong, Mike's currently leading the oveall points.

Gentlemen

a few short comments before I go back to other projects.
I must say that the round in Lugano gave back to me, Allan and Joerg much of the enthusiasm for slotcars which got lost for a while for different reasons (for me it's a new photo project I'm working on).
It was a great week end, the race was fantastic and we all agreed that on the average these cars's driving standard was higher than previous Proxies we had.
It was a pleasure to race all of them, some were perfectly tuned for my track some a bit less (possibly a matter of tires in my opinion, see below).
All were fun, none were boring as they all had a distinct personality.
No cars were injured, offs were few and never destructive: the cars are still working perfectly, body damage practically non existent.
The drivers were all excellent and honestly I believe I never raced so well and so fast, I really think I honored all the cars I raced.

Now a few considerations:
This 3 cars had vintage tires and during the test Zip Grip did'nt help much:

Posted Image

So I took upon myself to treat them overnight with Tire Tweaker (sort of sticky oil).
Then, just before the race, they were cleaned and Zip Gripped with the others and worked better.

This 3 cars are surely top 10 and even top 5 material, they have all what it takes to do much much better:

Posted Image

But: Ray's hops in wide curves, seems to suffer from too much traction.
John's and Brian's, on the contrary, tend to loose traction faster than the other speed bullets.
(Zip Grip slowly lost it's grip on tires but the track was more and more "rubberized" by continous racing balancing the lost Zip effect).

These cars were very promising during testing but in the end did not deliver what expected from them:

Posted Image

They all are fast but in the heat of the battle they're not secure enough to push the limit further like the top cars.
Pablo's Cuc was hopping on wide curves on lane 1 and 2, working perfectly on lane 3. Could've done much better if the rear tire-axle assembly wouldn't be so wide. I think.

Last but not least The Crate is here:

Posted Image

Preliminary test says: surely a podium contender!!!
