They only had about a year to prep.......

Extend the deadline another week and watch them rebuild their cars again and again.....

Totally unfair to those who met the deadline :excl:

I think I met the first revised deadline? :friends:

Mine was even sent in without any testing on the current motor, and I never turned enough laps with the flash bulbs in there before to see how it handled? I don't care, it's for fun anyway.

Don't git 'yerself all worked up it will happen as soon as it does. I got dumb and entered 3 Proxy events all due this week! (what a nut as one was a track and car event!)
I can't wait to see them all start. I have never entered one and I do 3! My wife is about ready to kill me!

"So what's up Doc? Aheee what is that thing."

"It is my newest invention in space travel"

The Dyn-ASTRO X-2 concept is base on the Looney Tunes character Marvin the Martian and the fact that an all Dynamic chassis and a Classic Industries ASTRO=V Thingie body was used to create this entry in the 2011 Dynamic Challenge.

The Dyn- is for Dynamic Models Inc.

ASTRO is for the Classic "Space Ship" body

The X-2 designation is a play on Classic's =V name also Marvin was the Commander of Flying Saucer X-2.

The car is powered by a new 50 year old Pittman DC-706 it is run in reverse considered to be true Looney Tunes. Over 2 thousand years of Martian research went into the real energy source known as Illudium Pu-36.

The pilot has control over the "Ray Guns" out front and the thrust nozzle boosters in the rear.

Those that know Marvin will respect the fact that he will not allow Earthling's to block his view of Venus or in this case the Finish Line. "This makes him very angry, very angry indeed."

"The Dyn-ASTRO X-2 is ready to destroy the Earth" and the competition.

I'm wondering about my choice of tires for this thing. I think my rears are 7/8" and I just used whatever black foam tires I could find and don't think they were very grippy. What's everyone else using?

Hi John,
my guess is that the race directors for each track will use there own type of tire traction compound? Like Edo, he uses or use to use suntan lotion. I think maybe now? he has switched to some Team Epic dressing?

anyway, I feel as though each track will make sure the cars "hook' up. Just MHO.

John;
i think i got really lucky, when i bought the car ive entered it came with the DYNAMIC rears the way they are now (gray rubber),just very dry and wayyyyyyy too large,so i soaked them in Zip Grip for about 3-4 days, until they felt like they were softening up,then i reground them on my HUDY til they are where theyre at now 1.010",went and tested, they felt good and gave good grip, and "VOILA" there they are,now hell or high water theyre good to go,threaded 1/8" axles and all,,lol ;)

I am sending a bottle of zip-grip along with the cars and instructions to apply prior to each race. Have also been treating ALL the mounted tires each 7 days to make sure they are all ready for the race and treated equally. Also, the cars will be sealed in zip-lock bags prior to wrapping and storing/shipping.

John, your car was tested last week and it ran just fine. The rubber you picked feels like synthetic, just like what I put on my car. Brian's car on the other hand has natural rubber.

The zip-grip will be shipped in an empty plastic mayo jar btw and it is looking like we are pushing 26 cars when Edo's arrives.
Plus... the timer was not in yesterdays mail. All it takes is one little thing and we might have to wait a week to race... darn-it!!

I'm not sure about putting the cars in a plastic bag Jairus. Does not Zip Grip have wintergreen in it? Has anybody done it this way??

Oil of wintergreen does foul things to plastic when sealed up together. It might be better to remove the tires and keep them in a seperate small baggie or tire tubes/pill bottles rather than sealed in the airtight bag with the car.

Really?
You are actually suggesting I take the tires off 26 cars and store them in separate bottles? Some cars have threaded axles and some set screw. Additionally some builders used thread locker!
Takes an hour just to put a little zip-grip on all, just imagin having to remove the tires too? I do have a life, such as it is...
I bag cars all the time, I don't believe it will be a problem for just shipping purposes.

Jairus,
Paper or Plastic for me, Bio-degradable paper or recycleable plastic please.
As far as the tire treatment juice, Marvin prefers MOS waste water from the containment pools at Dye-Itch-ey, Rain water in WA. or OR. after May 5th might help.
geeeez....WTF..... :bad:http://enenews.com/f...estern-5-videos
If suntan lotion is used SPF 45 minimum please. :beach:

I agree installing the tires on 26 cars and possibly having to reset the gear mesh
on the inline cars would be a hassle.

But Zip-Grip fumes in a sealed bag, especially with the PTEG bodies, isn't a good idea.

I would definitely skip the Zip-Grip.
If you go to Sticky-Fingers, I would only do so with explicit instructions to wipe the
tire dry after application as not to throw it up in the fender wells.

A better idea might be to just have each track use it's own naptha or lighter fluid
to clean the tires. The cars being run at a semi-regular basis and fairly extensively should keep them fairly fresh.
