Martin, I tried it and didn't like it. One would think it would be a perfect match, but for me it sucked. We didnt use much glue, if any, and I liked a "free" racecar. The combo of a group 7 chassis and the aero of a thingie felt way too "locked down" for me. Plus the inline chassis was lighter, and with a bit of skill, made it faster. Perhaps if I had built a really lightweight anglewinder, it might have been different. But what I tried was just a nauseating experience.

If anyone is interested. Here is a great starting point for this proxy.

I did this very thing for my mule, by buying up an vintage ebay car and re-building it.

How many laps? I ran the A-B-C and Green cans. Seems like they would last 50 laps, but we were on battery power. And sometimes lousy batteries!

Rules regarding the construction have already been posted in this thread. They will not change.
Number of laps depend on how fast your car is Glenn. Most likely 2 to 3 minute heats on an 8 lane track. Cars will run over 200+ laps per race I figure.

Will need a lot of marshals that can dodge the un-guided missiles. Gas mask for smokin motors, chest protector and a hard hat. Lol.

I am pretty clear on the rules except for one thing:
Why are 1/16 wire axle wheels not legal, given they were used in the Mura Thingie examples posted ?

1/16 front axles are approved and ENCOURAGED! (As long as the wheels are vintage "O" ring of course)

Minimum clearance rear is .055 No minimum front clearance is specified or needed in my opinion.

Yes, please consolidate the rules in one location.

I started pasting them in a word doc. but couldn't decipher the mix of rules from some that are ideas.

Will help if needed, just ask.

With encouragement from Pablo, I would like to set the one wing thing to rest. I hear tell that it MAY have been available in the time frame that has been set. If so, I have to buy one from Ray. If not, can someone verify for certain? I know for sure that that wing could turn any so-so car into a winner. Ya cant imagine how much of a difference it made without having run the choti both ways. Pics or hands on info welcomed!

Jairus,
Please post it in the Thingy forum as a separate thread and I will pin it on top of this one.

What guide to use? Back in my day, the Jet Flag was the way to go, but now there are soooo many. Whaddya guys recommend?
