I sure wish Rick would make some of the front and rear motor brackets for this... that's the parts that send someone on their way to building a decent one.

Making these brackets (that Cox stamped out in seconds) is just too time consuming for me. They took me hours of conventional machine time to make and what would people be willing to pay for them? Maybe $10 for a set. I'd be working for next to nothing. A laser cutting machine could bang them out but still, machine time ain't cheap and I don't have one. Sorry.

Yes, it's pretty clean looking, can't wait to get it. Looks like I will be making a set of body mounts though!
One person bought both shortened chassis (one for $38 and the other for $100) and another all the uncut ones that I didn't get ($86 for each and he ran the price up on mine to $201). Anyone we know ...?

Was weird how all of them had the side rails/body mounts removed. Looking at the originals & how Rick made them, shouldn't be hard to recreate .
Look forward to seeing your clean and finished car.

REH, really? Thanks for the info, that is really interesting! Maybe one should survive in the REH condition? Nah, I'm putting the outriggers back on mine!
Actually the seller had 17 of them at one point (a really nice guy). All of them had missing outriggers so the REH story fits this well.
Can't wait to see it done either!

I also threw my hand into the bidding on these but could only afford to bid $83. It was enough to win one of the cars!
I now have my AMT kit and I'm looking to acquire the rest of the bits for my own Gurney clone! How fun!

Here is the progress on mine. I thankfully have a nice original chassis for reference. Had to order all my brass from England to get the right sizes and made a rough copy of Rick's chassis jig (very rough) … I am fairly happy but need a bit more soldering experience (go easy on me, I am still a "Rookie" here)!
Anyone have any nickel plating tips?
And a great big thanks to Rich in Ontario for helping me get this one. So much fun should be illegal …

There's just something about these Gurney Cox chassis!
I did one on an NOS frame as a 65, one repaired butchered one from the same lot as a 63, starting to restore the next butchered frame for a 64 and then I eventually need another frame to do a 66 Galaxie with an old promo body I have, all as Dan Gurney Cars of course.
Anyone tried replating one?
