You know, all this talk about motor cans got me thinking. While Philippe is correct when he says no modern Parma end-bells on vintage motors please. Here is a fully legal option. It's a vintage Mabuchi can with a Mura "B" end-bell. fits tight side to side but rotates because the "B" is lower. This means that shim stock will need to be slipped into the top and bottom to help center the end-bell. But provides the best of both worlds: Light weight can (thanks John) and the best brush hardware possible.

The "modern" D can mags would make for a "huge" air gap in a older "A/D" can Not much brakes or punch and possibly a lot of heat.
yep...a fat arm would be needed of course. Is that illegal???

This is what Bob Kean used to build his jet motors that Chris Vitucci and Bob Emott used to run. He also used the Cox NASCAR can with the white Mura endbells, and eventually with the 36D brushes... not sure which is easier to find, the Cox or the oval-hole Mabuchi.
A good and inexpensive combination. But the Mura "C" cans are probably the best choice because they are relatively easy to find now that the one with the notch is permitted, and are smaller, lighter and allow the magnets to fit with no shims, making things quite simple to put together. The more difficult would be to find the EARLY C-can endbells (with the smaller bushing) unless Jairus will allow the later ones with the larger bushing, that are much easier to find I think.

What I said was "no buss bars", because that is the most outward and obvious indication of a later motor. The endbell with the larger bearing effects the performance not one wit! They're easier to find so... I would have to say it should be legal.
Sure, I'd LOVE to have everyone find a mint "B" can endbell and cut it down to match my "vision". But that's just crazy and I'm not going to nit pick the rules to death on this one because... I am busy building a chassis.
The rules stand as written.
