Tom, PJR and SAL are both just fine! Thank god neither raceway had any damage at all and are both back to their normal race schedules.

I hope that a lot of visitors make the trip this year.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the relaxed and fun atmosphere, and by how much everyone pitches in to help out these days.

I'm certain it will be a better event than last year - the issues of that time are long gone.

I have to agree. Western Classic was a blast. I expect Checkpoint to be the same. The scheduling was good as it gets. I'm looking for at least 4 of us from Foster's attending.

As far as I know, Coupe and Retro32 will be on the flat track, then Retro Pro, F1 and CanAm will be on the King.

JJ,

Closest airport is Orange County John Wayne (SNA). It's easier to get in and out of there than LAX. Most airlines have flights in and out, except for Jet Blue - they fly to Long Beach, and that is an option too.

Hotels, not so sure - the guys who live close to the raceway will be able to help, but there are lots, as BPR is not far from Knotts Berry Farm and Disneyland.

Debbie posted a list for the Wing Car Nats: http://slotblog.net/...el-suggestions/

I will ask her this weekend if the rates will be available for the CPC.

JJ,
I like the Red Roof Inn in Buena Park. 10 minutes from the track, reasonable rates, and large rooms.

Are all the races going to be run on the King?

Check the opening message on this thread. :)

All the rules and regulations (and there are not many) are HERE.

I am told that there will be one added sentence in the Petro Pro rules to allow some body reinforcement up front.

Awesome! Time to dust off the old slot car box and get ready. Been away for a while, but, this one is a MUST!

Since the CPC is sponsored by Parma, will the Parma F1 retro bodies be legal?

Mike,
We will be adding the Parma F1 Matra MS80 and it will be legal for the next King Track race. The TI22 will NOT be allowed but the Lola T70 Coupe will and will be legal for the Coupe race at the Parma/CPC.

Hey, some words of caution to Jersey John and all those who will reside in motels nearby BPR!
Never tell a motel manager you are a slot car racer, or they will be afraid you will make the formica tabletops into
building jigs and boards! :dance3: (Snicker, snicker, guffaw!)

Hmm, Checkpoint 2013 sounds like a blast...but I might need more than 5 laps in hand to overcome the rusty, squeaky
controller hand-to-brain coordination! :dash2: TRACK!!! :laugh2:

Hi Lee! Yeah, forgot to mention that. Prob a few burnt table tops anyway from smokers. Smoke from soldering guns is exempt from the no-smoking law in motel rooms, cuz I said so :laugh2:

Actually if memory serves me rt, either Chris or Lenore's children work at Red Roof Inn. I've heard a couple people told him they were in town for a slot car race and he have them a discount lol

For what it is worth--- wife and I have booked a room and look forward to the nice weather, shopping, good friends, great builders and racers! hanging out with you all is more fullfilling than winning a raffle prize [LOL]. Just a thought---Maybe Duran would be willing to donate 5 of his total laps to Lee for racing with us again? Mike Steube could have all my laps for a camio appearence. Happy holidays---see you there
