Here's another old track pic snagged from Facebook.

indianatrack.jpg

Only info provided was "Dildine's slot car track 1960s".

Surely one of the the most banked figure-8 style tracks I've even seen.

Any one remember this track or know anything about it?

I saw a post about that yesterday...  somewhere (?).

I don't recognize this track, but it appears to be a bicycle shop (bikes on display and front window indicates bicycles).

Just saw a repost of the Facebook item.

The track in post #151 was in Hammond, IN.

Certainly a very unique banked figure 8, a very flowing smooth track by the looks of it. :)

Not sure exactly when the King left Wonderland. I opened my model shop about a mile or so away in June 1988 and it was shortly after I opened that I got involved in the rescue attempt. I reckon the track was gone by the end of 1988, maybe early 1989 - certainly no later.

Afew days ago I paid a visit to Bob at Carkits to get some vintage bits and he was able to shed some light on the fate of the TMR/Wonderland King.

Bob said it was sold to someone in Kent or Surrey (I had previously heard it went to Guildford in Surrey). The new owner came to collect the track and apparently it was in such a bad way that it literally fell apart as they tried to get it down the stairs and into the van so, sadly, it would appear that "The King is dead".

More track pics grabbed from Facebook...

trackunk.jpg

No ID or info was provided for this not-very-good pic, but that's gotta be one of the longest eight-lane tracks I've ever seen. Guessing it is a temp track set up for an event in Europe, but that just what it is: a guess.

This image was labeled as being in Minsk, the capital of Belarus. Guessing it's another temporary set-up for a particular event, most likely in a hotel lobby based on the greenery and what looks to be a registration counter on the left.

If I squint hard enough, it does appear to say "Minsk slot(?) racing" on the side of the track across from the driver's panel.

That's what I see too, Tex.

Here's the last one for today, a twisty four-laner that I believe is at the Bolton Slot Car Club in the UK.

Here's an unusual track at the Northland Racecenter in Neumünster, Germany.

northland.jpg

What's so unusual about his track? It's not the design itself, nor the understated and nice scenery....

When's the last time you saw a slot car track with five lanes?

Hey, track builders like Bob Scott can/will build to your specs depending upon space available.

I've dreamed up how I could knock a wall out between the living/dining room and the family room (OK, may require some creative new load-bearing support) to maximize space for a home track. THAT probably won't happen.

BUT, after I retire, I CAN envision coaxing Bob to come down here ($!) and put a three-lane 1/32 approximation of Watkins Glen circa 1967 in the living/dining room, complete with some minor elevation changes.

Stay healthy for about three more years, Bob!

I'm way behind in posting some of the many track pics I've saved, primarily from Facebook. I'm going to try to get a bit caught up on posting them this week.

Here's a really nice HO track, with much better scenery than one usually sees on a track in that scale. Don't have any info or a location on this one. As always, if you know something about a track I post to this thread, please speak up!

Here's a different view of the Northlands Racecenter track I showed in post #162, giving a better view of the club's facility. Plenty of pit space it sure looks like.

Wish we had a club like this near me...

Greg,

The Michigan 24 hour endurance race is run on a track with five lanes.

I can't ever recall seeing a five-lane slot car track in person.

Here's another five-lane track for ya.

This is the "Williamstown Brown" at King Willys Raceway here in Melbourne, Australia.

brown1.jpg

It's a 90' lap. It's great fun and always provides tight racing.

We've used it for Retro, Touring Cars, Flexi, F1, and last year we staged a ScaleAuto hour-hour enduro on it.

We are about to run the Aussie Retro Nats on it in November.

This is the Ballarat Slot Club track here in Victoria, Australia. I think it's a 130' lap. These blokes love their Flexi racing!

I haven't had a chance to race there yet, but I'll get up there soon.

I have raced on the the track at Ballarat and the bus stop section is very tricky. You definately need a controller that you can adjust the sensitivity on as i used a Parma Turbo 2 ohm controller when I raced there and going through the bus stop it was way too agressive, could not get a good flow through there at all.

Heres a link to a bracket of "FJ" racing on the Williamstown Brown.

FX and FJ Holdens are considered "Australia's Own" car.
They were extremely popular in all forms of 1:1 racing, and have always had a place in Aussie slot car racing.
We run them as our Retro sedan class. They are wire/brass or Plafit chassis powered by Plafit Fox motors.
Awesome fun!!
