You got another arm to wind Pablo?

That sucks, Pablo; sorry. Like you say... lessons learned. Can't wait to see it's replacement; I'm sure it will be even BETTER. Rock on, dood.

Yeah, I have more arms. Try again this afternoon.
Won't be using those type of bits to drill holes any more....they spin and spin, not going anywhere, then all of a sudden, get a bite and EAT !

Why taper the shaft? Someday in the near future, 10 years or so from now, I plan on trying my hand at rewinding too.

I think Pablo has one of those magnetic balancer thingies , which require the shaft to be tapered so it can spin on the magnet

Ah! Makes sense. I have one, too. But I also bought a Tradeship balancer doohickey a few years back; I'm goin' old school when the time comes.
EDIT: I made my post before seeing the pic of your balancer, Pablo. Mine has smaller magnets, intended for wheels and gears.

Wow, sorry Pablo. I'm surprised how thin the metal is there. Check out the link below. This type of drill should help you:

That's the bits I used, Rick Operator error.
I experimented with a regular 5/32 bit and for me it works much better.
Arm # 2 is in the oven.

Nice looking armature is #2 All done & ready to slip into the awaiting setup

The new arm looks nice Pablo.
Those "center drills" probably aren't the best for a hand held drill. The standard twist drill you just used look like they were the ticket.

Yes, the standard bit did work "OK", not pretty but got it done.
Boy, I forgot how much work arms are. So many steps, so many things that can go wrong
Not like a chassis, where you can re-do it. Once you screw the arm up, it's game over.

At least you got the motor/arm right on the second try Should be a nice motor to power the upcoming Pablo GP chassis Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for this next build!

Thanks a million for the offer, Niels.
Not needed for this motor, but maybe in the future.....
This motor is an orphan and one-of-a-kind, not deserving of a sticker

Hi Pablo,
You've got the early undesirable version there. They later removed the pontoon at the bottom. It might cause you problems if you don't remove it.

Ooo that's a different one to the '66 Coxalloy one I have Pablo! Same design etc just minus the supertanker bulge at the bottom!
