Paul, mine isn't anodized, didn't come with a dial indicator, but has the mounting post for one.
Thanks Bill

"Hawk got out"
Sorry, Bob, but that makes zero sense whatsoever.
This is the second time I have asked for an explanation of the term "Hawk"
Please explain it in layman's terms.
Oh!
Hawk is a name brand of a company that was in slots then 'got out'.

The Navy blue motors were built for the Hawk slot company by Mabuchi. Hawk went out of business and Champion purchased the motors.
Maybe in early 1967 there was a shortage of Mabuchi motors. Champion bought blind bearing cans and some gimbal bearing cans that they nickel plated themselves.
Philippe probably has the accurate history but there was a problem with supply from Mabuchi that lead to changes in the industry.

Cool. When you said "Hawk", I thought you were talking about JK motors

Filling with solder is same as "leading" used in body work back before Bondo. Nice work Mr. P!

Dark metallic blue will resemble the Lenz motors of the period.

Time to JB Weld the mags to the can.
Arm mikes at .510
My extensive research into 16D airgaps leads me to believe a big gap works well.
So I'm shooting for an end result hole of .560 which will give about 25 thou per side.
Now, where did I put those doggone Goat Boy magnet slugs ?
