Bob,

The motor you're asking about is the other Tradeship motor of this type, big, open-frame with 7-pole arm. One is the MX or MK77 and the other the MX or MK70, if i remember right. I have to look at the box each time! The bigger one has adjustable timing, speaking of time, and not this one...

Don

Hi Don,

I recognize the Tradeship MK.

What is the one just below it?

They're both Tradeship Bob. The rounder one under the Dynocharger a bit to the left is the MK-70, with the adjustable timing. The one under that is the MX-77, also with 7 poles, and both are rated at 20k. Tradeship also made the MN-30, an inline motor with bracket, pretty similar to the Aristo-Craft models, with 5 poles, rated at 18k... photos at 11....

Looks like I will be entering  a few "Altered" cars then with wheel wells cut waaay up & enlarged :D

Hopefully 2x Rails and steadily acquiring a few parts to make a concerted effort for one Exhibition "Unlimited" ... If I git 'R done and the idea works it's gonna be interesting :laugh2:

Bob,

The rules look good so far, have  1 question and  1 concern.

Will you require all cars to have a driver or interior card?

Vintage gears... large 64 pitch vintage pinion gears are hard to find. Or maybe I should ask if this rule applies to the exhibition cars as well?

Bill, are you talking about large pinions in terms of shaft size or teeth count? Would of thought modern 64 pitch R/C pinions would mesh ,come in large tooth counts & also a lot fit 1/8" shafts  :good:

Additional question on the interiors Bob, with the re-tune of the "Inch Pincher" using  a Tamiya hard body, do I have to run the kit interior or can I just put in a vac formed one? Bearing in mind the RAM/Kemtron stands upright :shok: :laugh2:

The Bug & other hard body cars will all be running in the Altered class :good:

Paul,

I've been using the RC pinions for awhile and they work great with the Weldon's, just not sure they meet the rules.

Vac formed should be sufficient.

Ah I get ya Bill, thanks :good: I've been working on the @ssumption that for the unlimited class in particular most things would be fine , as with the addition of neos & wheelie bars & being exhibition there isn't much left to put on the cars !  As long as it's padlock powered then it's all good.  But I'm sure Bob will be along to put me right if neccessary :laugh2:

Wow, Thank you Don for identifying ... not what I expected a Tradeship MK-77 to look like, and thought would've looked more like its 70 brother.

The MK-70 is a happening to see with the 'skewed' mag plate and the very wide :shok:  range of timing choice. I have one with the 12v and 6v arms.

Now ...... I have a loose unused MK-77 here all along.  Nicely constructed motor!

Anyone 'round here mess around :roflmao:   ... or race  :to_become_senile: :to_become_senile:with the 20,000 RPM Tradeship motors?

Dynamic makes a mount for the MK-70... would be an easy drag build-up.

Hi Bill, Good questions

Gears

Stock, Rods and Rails 1967 parts cut-off

Unlimited - any gears / any material / any pitch / any quantity.

Wheelstander - 48 or 64 pitch, modern or vintage.

Molded, vacformed or card with driver allowed, detail/finish in 3 colors min.

Paul,

I've been using the RC pinions for awhile and they work great with the Weldon's, just not sure they meet the rules.

Vac formed should be sufficient.

1/8" 64p R/C pinions allowed

Ah I get ya Bill, thanks :good: I've been working on the @ssumption that for the unlimited class in particular most things would be fine , as with the addition of neos & wheelie bars & being exhibition there isn't much left to put on the cars !  As long as it's padlock powered then it's all good.  But I'm sure Bob will be along to put me right if neccessary :laugh2:

Unlimited

Laminated Plate or Open Frame = Anything Goes.

The only thing that must be vintage is the motor frame/plates.

Frames or Plates can be modified.

Paul,

Check Robinson Racing. Look under the 1/8" Pro Aluminum series for 64 pitch.

I got a good procedural question from a member.

Looking over the revised rules and curious why all the hot rods are grouped into one Rods Class. Will all sub-classes be competing against each other for the Rods Title?

That is how it is set up, If you look at the variants for the classes in Speed/ET as it was at Eddie's it made it an easy decision to combine.

At this point I don't know how many will cars be signed up.

The way I set up the registration sheet it breaks out the classes separate which to me looked like different bodies on common or random motor/chassis combos.

If there are enough cars in any of the combined 'Rods' class we could have run-offs and 'Class winner' plaques. This can only be done based on declared class registered paid entries.

The overall 'Rods' winner will have to be the quickest car because the owner may not be there to dial and drive.

If there is time for it we could do dial-in for fun and see where the consistency factor is.
