Thanks Bob,

In fact, I just sanded down the bottom of the canopy where the worst of the glue was... it's still got some scratches, but not too bad, and I didn't want to spend two days polishing. Even with all that filing and sanding it still doesn't come out quite flush on the bottom, but like Rick, I want to get back to some mechanical stuff! Unfortunately, my results aren't quite in his class...

Hey, quick question: is there a remagnetizer at the dragstrip by any chance?

Don

Yes Bill Pinch has a zapper.

It's big, it's old, it's got power .... when trying to figure out how to zap a Pittman padlock one day it 'sucked in' the two 'C' can test field magnets that were almost 2ft away....

We all got a laugh out of that, guess we vintage slot guys are easily amused. :laugh2:  :sarcastic_hand:

:wizard:

It looks like the killer zapper that Rick has only old.... like us :o

He charges $2 per motor zapped, what'ch thinking? Sending it whole or with the motor out?

Memory issues :dash2: .. I'll have to 're-learn' how to place them in the 'machine'. :wacko2:

Odd as it sounds I didn't zap (or disassemble) the Kemtron 503-8 in the Valiant Ghost and it was FAST :sun_bespectacled:

I'm not intimidated buy ANY can motor but I still have to learn to get comfortable with these older'n me padlocks .... like um....very soon. :shok:

Don, SO FRIGGIN' COOL  :good:

I see those 64 pitch gears hiding in there too.

I think you should put some kind of flashing lights in the rear for the full rocket effect. May psych out the competition as well.

Little more work on the rail today. I was walking by this record hanging on my wall and said that is what a vintage rail should have out back, polished Americans. The tires I had on there where actually from J&J Raceway where many vintage drag meets were held.

DSC05891.JPG

I did not have any huge piecrust slicks so I went with Mila Miglias. The wheels were from the pile with one having a grey and one having a black tire, both beat that I removed. Wheels and acorns polished. I painted the white wall to see how it would look. Frankly, I'm not sold on it yet. What do you think?

Looks good to me,really steady hand as the circles are perfect!

Do I spy a set of Riggen rears & fronts next to that album?

Paul, if my hand was that steady I'd be a brain surgeon :D

There are recessed areas that I flowed the paint into and scraped the excess with the side of a razor blade, it will be our secret :good:

Yes, those are Riggens on the wall, good eye. That wall holds all kinds of wonders :)

I kind like the whitewalls, I personally would think just one stripe .. the inner of the two would look better'n two.

Holy endplate reshaping batman! :shok:

In readiness for a hopefully fast & vaguely lighter Strombecker DC85 clone... Still more to be done but the dremel needs a rest :laugh2:

One option for an 1/8" shaft guide flag is the nice black TSRF flag.  Uses modern braid and clips and is compatible with the COX flag system.

Add me to the entry.

one R-geo rail

one '57 corvette rod

maybe one t-bucket altered......

PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED SPY PHOTO!!

A recently captured spy photo from a building block deep inside Pitt Man's super secret creepy cave, indicates that a non Pittman powered drag car is being created.

Sources report that it appears to have a screaming, balanced and trued KTM DV-18-F 4 volt padlock motor, Tradeship WE201 chassis, Speedway S102 front wheels with oldie GRC front tires and Weldun gears.

In the background a Booth altered Fiat drag body can also be seen.

This lightweight 3.85" wheelbase wonder should prove to be almost impossible to control on the drag strip.

Further info will be reported when available.

Now that's cool !! Never seen one of those chassis before. Certainly will be interesting to see how much of a hand full on the strip it could be being short wheelbase ! :D

Hey Joe, I've got a new smell: just received a car from the States, and the seller wrapped it in a plastic bag from a supermarket, but forgot to take out some kind of food left in the bottom, and it spoiled over the 10 day trip from the States, so my car now smells like ammonia - had to throw out the box and everything else... but working on the car!

Yes, grunge is my middle name, at least on my worktable... wait, I mean patina, not grunge....

Much classier!

Don, as usual you have outdone me  :D

I try to draw the line at rotting flesh and food matter. Maybe he thought you were going hungry over there in France and threw in a little something extra.

Any kid from our age group that grew up in the States always heard this when they didn't eat their dinner, Parent: " Eat your dinner, don't you know there are people starving in ( fill in your foreign country here, Africa, Russia, Armenia etc. )

Although my parents never said anyone was starving in France.  :)

Sorry for rambling, just had a flashback moment.

According to my wife, they heard the same thing from their parents growing up in France - it's a universal saying, at least in the West...

I'm afraid they just got sloppy packing the car - but in any case, it's a first after 15 years on ebay!

Great car Bob,

 I like the NOS non-patina shine. :sun_bespectacled:

That car should be 'bad-***'... if .... you make the front axle look like a barbell. :laugh2:

Oh nooo...I've been found out :shok: Darn spy.

Yes ma, I'm guilty as charged, I've been secretly building a Japanese hot rod motor. :whistle3:

Actually this 4 volt gem really hauls donkey

As far as clean, don't be misled by my bathroom countertop photo stage. It just the brightest lit clean spot in my apartment.

I'd be embarrassed to post a shot of my building area.

I'll be machining up a heavy weight that will mount up front with the axle and front cross tubes running through it, from a lead brick I've been hanging onto for years.

Those huge #N232 1 5/16" x .700 Pro-Tracks  on the back will get trued and narrowed down to .3"-.350" wide before it's all done. I think their plain hub make a reasonable looking facsimile of an older wheel and there is plenty of rubber to start with before carving them down to whatever size you may desire.

I got the weekend off, I'll see what I can get done on this little beast. Time's running out quick and I want to get another car built, too. :heat:

This work in progress is *lead free* at least in the front! :laugh2: Think it should stay in the slot with all that motor upfront :)

Just wondering what would be better, total traction off the line or a little *slip* .... May need some lead & those super naturals out back for plenty of *bite* or keep the as new Mila Milglia sponge for just a little slip off the line ...

Reminds me , I've gotta get round to painting that sweet Jimmy Flintstone resin body soon!
