Oh well, too pretty to race anyway. IMHO

Heard from Bill yesterday and my car got there the next morning even though I used FedEx "economy" - thanks FedEx! Especially after I just had a disastrous experience with UPS shipping to France.
Now I just gotta hope it runs - it ran pretty well last time we had a drag race here, which was probably about 10 years ago...

I went and met with the crew last night.
The shipped cars are safe. Bill and I will do some checkout passes after the track is cleaned and make adjustments before the racers come in Monday evening.
The cars, plaques, kit and padlocks on display for the regular Friday night program were a big hit. They caused a lot of chatter talk amongst the seasoned guys and gals and looks of intrigue to the younger racers. Everyone was all smiles.
The race program concept explanation is a hit and we should have a strong showing.
In the picture below is George with his Slip-rail dragster trying to rundown Joan in her 1964 Plymouth Fury. Are thy pros? You bet, Joan frequently takes home the 'Light Money' and the overall win. George is the former pilot of the "Jazz" 1:1 Jet powered Funny Car and also raced in other T/F and AA/FC cars. He ain't scared to go fast.

Don
It's going to work out real good.
The vintage cars will run first against each outer heads up, that will set the cars dial in then they will also Bracket race in with the modern cars all with no glue.
Your car may win heads-up there or get beat but... later the slower vintage cars have the advantage over the modern because they will probably be leaving first based on the dial in. The old heavyweight cars like no glue, the modern cars don't like to run without the stick stuff.
I will be amused if Don's Fiat beats George's slip joint dragster .. but I will not be surprised.
Example -
A 1.2 second vintage rail would get a .6 second head start up against a .6 second S16D modern rail.
My 1.8 second (just a guess) Valiant would get a 1 second head start against a .8 second Gr-20 powered 63 Impala Hardbody.
HaHa... see if you can catch me.
That is like leaving a day and a half before ... forcing the modern drivers to get over anxious and 'red light'
At the end of the night the time slips will tell which vintage car had the fastest MPH and the Lowest ET. So it's like two races in one. We all get time slips for every round. Hey ... if a good 'light leaver' driver runs a vintage car it could beat all the modern cars ....
This will be fun.. it won't be boring even though there will be more modern cars.
These guys and gals want to win rounds and don't care about fast new or old'n slow cars.
They are all going to want to get the chance run the vintage cars
Looks like it Don !! Shaping up to be quite an interesting field of machinery!
Guaran-dam-teed !

Love it
Never taken part in a Proxy race before and always wondered how it could be fun, seeing as your aren't there to race your own car.... But now I realize this is a total blast Talk about nervous excitement!!! Soooo looking forward to hearing how it all goes.

I pointed out to the guys how highly modified your 85 is by showing them the stock in the box one I brought in.
"I was told it screams like a Mura."
They looked at me like
The 2:1 'gear set' was a real topic starter ... they run crowns almost the size of a half dollar.
BTW ... the mesh feels super smooth.

Yep, all very exciting ... but I'm also getting very anxious!
I really should have resoldered all my connections, tightened the spur gear one more time, etc., etc.

I'll give the cars a good look over, tighten or solder if needed, clean tires, oil bushings/bearings.
I don't have a smart phone to tweet any updates.
I'll take lots of pictures to post for the 'Best' award online voting.
I'll advise about when the youtube will be posted.

Last minute Good luck to all Padlock contenders
Typing this & going out of my mind wondering all the "what ifs" just picturing how the event is going plus trying to channel enough luck & will from the Slot Gods into the car

It all turned out great. No one broke, no one wrecked.
We ultimately have a full field of 24 cars for the "Main Event" Wait until you see who won the "Main"
Officially Entered Rods and Rails results.
The Winner of low ET of all the legal spec "Rods and Rails cars" !!! David C. gets the trophy. WTG Boxerdog !
The timeslips are in the box with the car so I have to get the Time from Bill Pinch's race report.
This car also was voted as the Best engineered buy the whole field of drivers in attendance.
Top speed of the Padlocks was set by Bob I. with the wheelstanding Plymouth Valiant powered by a stock Kemtron at 33.96 MPH
This car was also voted as "Best Appearing" buy the field of proxy only drivers in attendance. Drivers drew their assigned car from a hat.
At first it was a tie between the Valiant and the very C00L Bug entered by Paul E. That forced a run-off between the two cars by the drivers.
The "If it don't go Chrome It" 413 Ramcharger Valiant.
The "Inch Pincher" VW Bug.

Don's Fiat was a handful as you can see in the video.
This was the run-off of the R&R legal cars. ... Thanks to Chris for the quick posting to YouTube. He will post more 'footage' also.
Ace weekly driver Wayne added more and more weight and got it be controllable.
All the notes are provided on the time slips being shipped out to you Don.
Wayne was able to drive into the quarter finals of the Main bracket event.
