Thanks for the help Bill and Paul. I'm in the dark about currently available jig wheels. I'm still using modified Weldun spur gears

So, is this going to be open sports, GT Coupes, or Grand prix cars?

Hi Dennis,
We'll have all 3 classes just as they did in the 1966 R&C series.

Are there any jig wheels available for 15/16" and 7/8" diameter wheels? Thanks.....
Don Weaver
It's possible to build without jig wheels as we did in the Dark Ages. Just turn your tires down first, then use a piece of 1/16th inch balsa wood as a "shim" under the frame as it's being built to provide the clearance.
Pretty sure that idea was in the Russkit jig instructions.

Midwest Products birch plywood works well for this too. Their 1.5 mm thickness measures .0585".
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

Don,
That is indeed in the Russkit Adjusto-Jig instructions and that's still how I build my chassis... found a piece of 1/16" balsa many moons ago, and still use it....
Birch would probably be better Bill, but I'm old school...

Chris Briggs uses 1/16" sheet aluminum when building on his Dave England designed jigs.

Most likely now I just use little strips a half inch wide or so to clearance the frame. Today's jigs are so good at keeping the rails straight!
Brass rod, aluminum tubing, plate, anything a 1/16th works.

or....just use 13/16 tires for rear and 3/4 tires for the fronts and forget about balsa/bass wood or any other spacer.

My cars are ready, and I just sent off a PM to Rick - they should be going out with FedEx tomorrow...
Took another look at that track and it's going to be a bear for these lightweight cars! Both of mine are around 100 g, the F1 at 98, the Sports car at 108 g - that's about 3-1/2 oz I think. I'm using old rubber, sponge or foam, so maybe that will help. That's the disadvantage of not being able to test too, but kind of exciting to see the expected unexpecteds...
Tally Ho! Wait... we don't say that in France, how about Allez les bleues! (that's for the soccer team... oops, a bit too late for that too.)
Thanks again Rick & Steve, this is a wonderful idea.

Don is number two for the Proxy, thanks Don.
Don't worry about your lightweight versions. The first 3 R&C races were lightweights and we'll all be in the same boat with those versions!
I'm meeting up with Rodney on Sat. before the event. We're going to test the cars on his home test track to see how the tires, etc. are working.

I have one going into the mail tomorrow.
I could send a second.... but not sure about it since it's pretty, but a vile handling little thing.

I've got some of those entered! I just kept reducing the tire traction until they'd slide instead of roll......I hope!

I'm sorry Steve but the rules state that once the entries are shown on Slotblog those are the cars that must be entered.
So the red and green #22 cars are it for you........
