OK ... question . ??

If a car is out of spec  per the original Mike Swiss kit/rule package, like if it is ride height, tire dia., width, wrong gearing, etc.

How do you think it should be handled? :sorry:  :big_boss:

Up until now, I think it was run 'AS IS'.  Slot depth was unknown and (?) not adjusted. This race, that item was announced and all should be owner adjusted.  I would hope if a car WAS out of a minor adjustment, it would be adjusted to race fairly.  My car came back from Europe with a broken solder joint that COULD have been fixed, but never was...and I do not know how many races it was raced 'as is'.  Out of spec tech failure and DNF 's are part of racing, but we should rely on a bit of on-site support as well with the proxy.

I sent a spare motor - just in case.  I did not get my second set of tires ready, but the used ones were OK unless the Florida sun shrunk them.

I assume that my car did not arrive yet...
Send it a day before Jens did  :pardon:

I think if a car has minor issues like ride height, tire dia., wrong gearing and it can be fixed easily it would be nice to do so.
Possibly naming the issue here and see what the other entrants say on a case by case basis.
Naturally any costs involved would have to go to the car owner/builder.

I reckon you'll just have to cross that bridge if and when the time comes.

I know my car is legal. It doesn't leave the ranch until it is. :sun_bespectacled:

Mine should be legal since it is exactly the same except the reinforcement and straightening. :good:

On a separate note.... I had Ralph Thorne tone down the yellow and shrink the font a little.

These are the 'as approved' awards and should be here today or Monday.

Kenny got this chassis, finished out the car and has it 'dialed-in' with many hours of testing and tuning at Brandywine. :heat:

Sits at 113 grams.

The #22 Tribute car will be a contender. :good:

Below is the official rule set for this race.

At a minimum all the cars will be checked for the items shown in bold and a visual on the approved parts list.

All cars will race unless a 'hazardous" car

Cars that are not in compliance with the rules and cannot be corrected in a timely manner with materials on hand using reasonable efforts by those skilled in the trade will be subject to post race penalties. Note: There are only two new full sets of tires left in stock as of yesterday.

  • Tech inspection, on track test laps and Qualifying will be done Tomorrow 9/19.
  • A total of 12 cars will be on site.
  • Kenny Snodgrass with qualify all the cars on the lane of his choice.
  • Tech inspection crew is Charlie, Bill and Bob.
  • We have a great list of Pro Drivers for race time. If there is 'good in your car' these guys will find it.
  • Designated drivers get a "Participant" Box Plaque (while supply lasts)
  • Charlie will handle the race day coverage, race reporting and video.
  • Kenny will be setting up a display of some of his dads racing trophies and memorabilia.

Hi Jens

If your tires are 1" or more and your clearance is .050 or more you're fine. :good:

If tires are too small or ride height is too low you 'rang in' first and will get one of the 'rare' sets of tires if needed. :i-m_so_happy:

I hope that meant "the order in which they will qualify", not "the order they qualified in"   :laugh2:

Sounds like some guys already know their tech results, how is that possible ?  :shok:

I had the pleasure to drive two of the entries tonite. I drove Matt Boman's entry and the orange #9 car (who built that car). I was surprised how well both cars drove. I think that its going to be an interesting race tomorrow.

I'm guessing the pace car is a Hurst Olds 442 or a Javelin ?

story here -> Prototype Hurst/Olds Toronado

A 1966 pacing a 1955/57 field would make it a futuristic "GM Dreamcar" :lazy:

I was really surprised how well it ran, it's a full hypoid set-up and was very drivable. The FT16D stock motor was new with no time on it, might get a little more speed when it's broken in.

Anyway.... It was just for display and track prep parade laps..... Wheeeeeee :roflmao:  :to_become_senile:
