- Qualified at 12 volts.
- A total of 40 seconds per car. 10 to feel it out and 30 to see what its got.
- Kenny ran all the cars on orange in the order shown above.
- Tech went basically very quick and smooth with the tools all set.
The track was loose for most everyone but the TQ'er.
The tires were cleaned with Trinity Monster Juice on cars that had 'bad dry' tires .. Jaak, Jens and like 3 others that were marginal were cleaned with lighter fluid.
No big hits or wall shots at all. Only a fast rolling wheel center here and there.... .
Jens spun a pinion (zing) 10 seconds into the run, clock was stopped, car repaired and back on for 30.
I had a keeper (forgot solder) come off the RF and (thump) loose the wheel at about 8-12 seconds in....
Kenny ran the crap out of it on 3 wheels and it stayed in.
Other than that cars from like 8 on back were evil and wicked loose and spinning the whole chute, 2 thru 7 progressively loose in the kink and spinning up the tires putting the power down getting front straight.
Matt Boman killed the field by -0.112, built his own chassis, just finished it today and went straight to the track.
WTG Matt, you built a great car in a short time and put it to the field.
The full rundown:

Matt's Pole Winning car:
Built as an .055 .047 two rail, full shaker plate, LF free, RF locked to axle in tube.

Matt Boman being TQ is not a surprise. I drove only two cars, but Matt's was well planted and was very smooth. I have never seen a proxy race; its going to be interesting.

Who is Matt Boman? He's not a name I'm familiar with. His chassis first looks simple, until you really look it over. Is he a local racer or from some other location?
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

Matt is a local Pro, a Raceway.biz (RWB) home tracker.
He wins in everything here in Florida from Womps to Gr12.

Me too Bob...wish I had gotten new tires but thought they should be ok.
Looking forward to the race and how it goes, would be cool if someone filmed it for a bit just to get the feeling
And feedback on what is good and wrong on the build

Did the drivers stay on a particular lane and the cars changed lanes, or were the drivers assigned "their car" and stick with that car through 8 lanes ?

Proxy Racing is all about the cars - however they don't move without human intervention. Congrats to all the proxy contestants, thank you for joining the fun tonight!
We were all honored to play with your toy cars. Each one had a personality - they all were awesome and ran fast! Full Story and images soon.
Please take a moment to think about people - Kenny made his dad real proud tonight. Ray Snodgrass was a great man, I hope he is getting the internet as he rests in peace...

All drivers stayed put in their respective lane, the cars moved. This track liked the center shaker of the #8M, Gator is going to have to tell you the details. I was standing there when Matt told us - the center brass section floats/shakes - .063 brass weighs something like 20 grams, and the .063 piece in front of it weighs too. Not much brass to the rear but most all the weight is low on the brass plates. (paraphrased) Also, the fronts did something, stiffer on one side, help Gator!

So basically my car was the slowest of them all
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated on what is wrong.
Is it the chassis design? where the tires just that bad? was it the motor that had no more oomph..bad luck.
Love to hear more!

Charlie, It was great meeting you yesterday during the proxy race. Hope to see you at the GRRR event this coming Saturday. Come on over even if you do not intend to race. Hope to see you there.
There was a question about who Matt Boman is. Matt has been a very long time slot car racer in Florida. He runs in the flexi MySeries series in Florida and some of our GRRR events. Matt and I are teammates for the endurance races these last four months of 2014 in MySeries. He is an outstanding driver and competitor. He owns Group 12 in Florida being series champion.

Slot Car Racing is Alive and Well in East Central Florida!
By Charlie McCullough, Coastal Angler Magazine
Melbourne, FL – Twelve 1/24 scale Indy Roadster slot cars from around the world converged at the Raceway.biz on September 20, 2014 for a proxy-driven memorial race to honor local automotive racing enthusiast Ray Snodgrass. Times have changed since the slot car craze in 1966-1967. Technology now provides the ability for folks to share information globally, in seconds. The Slotblog.net internet forum for slot cars connects today’s slot car folks, many of whom continue enjoying this intriguing sport some 50 years later…
Bob ‘Gator Bob’ Israelite organized and managed the event for friend Kenny Snodgrass’ father who recently passed away. The Raceway.biz track owner Bill Pinch directed the race with the power set a 11 volts, on the tricky 8-lane tri-oval track.
Ray’s wife Shelby, Kenny’s wife Millie, grandson Scott and great grandson Ethan helped set a memorial table displaying Ray’s stock car racing trophies and picture albums for everyone to enjoy.
Some of the best slot racers in Florida agreed to drive – Lee Fish, Bob Rondione, Terry Tawny, Kenny Snodgrass, Thomas Holland, Dennis Demole, Steve Bowman, and Matt Boman. Interestingly, in this proxy race drivers remained in their respective lane, the cars rotated among drivers taking a turn in each lane to determine most laps for the win.
Drivers interviewed following the race commented how much fun they had and asked how soon another event like this would be coming to The Raceway. “I think the biggest challenge was trying to get used to the different cars handling aspects, and keep them on the track pushing as many laps as the car could take”, said Terry Tawney, “Ya Charlie, some of them would get sideways.” Dennis Demole commented his challenge, “Driving these loose cars, especially #15, was the hard part. Switching the cars on different lanes was a very fun deal – more fun than I thought it would be.”
Local Pro racer and proxy entrant Matt Bowman really helped with the cars. Pre-race tire conditioning, noticing a broken solder joint (Gator Bob repaired), checking guide ride height, and adjusting all the cars for gear mesh and overall tuning improved the times logged in qualifying. These local experienced slot racers kept a close eye on the cars as they drove each one, and a few cars were repaired under green light, then back on the track before the heat ended.
Official Results:
1st place: Matt Boman’s white #8M Harbor City Express Car
2nd Place: Rick Davis’ blue #2 Empire Racing Car
3rd Place: Kenny Snodgrass’ blue #22 Ray Snodgrass Tribute Car
Best Appearing: #22 Ray Snodgrass Tribute Car
Best Appearing runner-up: John Austin’s #72 Wynn’s Car
