I love the way you braced the bracket to prevent motor pitch.  I think you hit the nail on the head right where you want stiffness :good:

Tomorrow is December. Blah... cold weather, shopping and nothing good on the Tele.
The only consideration at all is getting to spend time with the family. Which I do almost weekly anyway.

But, managed to finish up the paint on the Lister Jag last night.
This painting I found on-line was pretty much my inspiration.  Most others were "modernized" with roll bars and non-period graphics.  But I liked this one so that was my standard along with a photo from the era.
ArchieandtheListerJaguarlg-vi.jpg

ListerJaguar-vi.jpg

I see I forgot to create a license number for the nose.... oh well.

IMG_2219-vi.jpg
Final car will include a very nice "race tested" Slick 7 FK motor and a set of wheel inserts.

IMG_2213-vi.jpg

IMG_2215-vi.jpg

Mirror is a correct Talbot, taillights are red sprue carefully cut to represent the Jag units.  Driver head Russkit and interior highly modified from a Professor Motor vac formed part.
IMG_2216-vi.jpg

IMG_2218-vi.jpg

VW is next!
I talked to Oliver and we discussed the poor molding on the BMW Elva.  So it was agreed that I could replace it with a TrueScale Iso Griffo which will have a brass rod chassis that may, or may not include a 4-wheel drive feature.

Corvette update: New kit purchased for the front bumper, but that has not yet been received so... pics soon as I can.

Nice Jairus :good:

I've lost track of how many cars you've finished while I'm still struggling with one! :laugh2:

Onward :victory:

Lost track?
I think this one is number seven.
Added one for someone else on this forum bumping the total to nine when done, but the number that I started with was eight bodies and this one is number seven.
Finished another chassis.

Brass rod and tube, Russkit bracket from PCH.
Body Bizzarrini Iso Grifo by True Scale.

The 5th race of the 1966 R&C series featured one that competed, so I designed the chassis to fit the era.

Yeah, that was a good one and I won two races with that motor inside.
Class changed and the brushes are still 50%.  Besides, the smaller motor allowed me to run a full interior rather than making another flat plate like the Birdcage Masser.

I was planning on making a all wheel drive chassis for the Bizzarrini Iso Grifo.  But... research proved that only Russkit thought this was a good idea with the "Black Widow".  The original 1/1 Bizzarrini was rear wheel drive with a range of monster engines including a Corvette V8 and a Ferrari V12!

So... only the VW left.  Maybe all wheel drive on that one? Hmmmmmmm.....    :to_become_senile:

Well, here it is Friday December the 5th.  I didn't make my Challenge deadline.  :boredom:

But I did finish 7 of the 8 cars with a good start on the last one.  Maybe tomorrow...
Corvette is finished.  Front and rear bumpers are model car parts.  I considered cutting up the kit dash board but really don't want to so calling this one done.
Car is painted like the customers personal vehicle.
IMG_2227-vi.jpg

He drives it in vintage races and the decals tend to changed year to year so this is the generic look as requested.

IMG_2228-vi.jpg

IMG_2229-vi.jpg

As with all the cars, clearances are set for 1"diameter 1/2" wide Russkit repop rear wheels. The fronts are 7/8" diameter (wheel and tire) by 1/4".
This provides room for 1/2" wheel inserts as I provided with the Lister Jag....

IMG_2232-vi.jpg

... and a goal for cutting down the kit stock wheels.  :pardon:

IMG_2231-vi.jpg

Next up, the Bizzarrini Iso Grifo.  B)

As I stated before, the chassis and paint are done as if the car were entered in the 1966 R&C races.

Simply freakin' unbelieveably gorgeous work, Jairus.  I stand in awe of some of the chassis that you create, and that's not withstanding  the beautiful paint jobs you put on these creations. I really love that Lister Jag.....just amazing. :)

Finally I was able to get around to starting on the last car in this series.
This week has been super busy and last night I helped someone move their belongings using my '58 wagon.... in the rain. During rush hour and after working a full day at the sign shop. Sooo....Think, I caught a cold doing all that!

This morning I sealed myself up in the bunker with the soldering iron, a pot of French Roast coffee and the will to make some progress.

Chassis done!

IMG_2250-vi.jpg

IMG_2251-vi.jpg

Sorry about the bad photos.
Can drive vintage 16d motor with the little spring clip to hold it in.

This car will be a full build-up for the customer.  So I have a bunch of bits going into it and will post that soon.

IMG_2252-vi.jpg

Okay, the long gear guard is my attempt to provide a mounting point for a cool stinger exhaust.  Something like the Dave Deal inset artwork.

Because, I decided that this car is going to be a lowered "Cal-Look" California style 1966 Bug.
Very popular thing even today and still playing with ideas for paint, interior and detailing. But at least I have made some significant progress.

CalLooksuggestions-vi.jpg

Stay tuned to this same channel for updates. Because, I'm not going anywhere today or tomorrow since I have to feel much better before work Monday.  Soooo... this is my only desire: to rest and work on this unabated and uninterrupted.

Beautiful bunch of cars Jairus.

Works of art , top and bottom.

I especially like the last chassis. Not a hard 90* bend in the entire chassis. Nice curves. Will you be using a chrome paint brush ferrule for the mega-phone exhaust?

I have not settled on a specific color yet. But all the research I've seen so far points to one color with no stripes or graphics.
A few are two tone with a white or contrasting side panel.

Been working on carving out some 5 spoke wheel inserts this afternoon.

Bang on for the color choices , from years of owning a few VeeDubs and lusting after a real Cal Look , most cars had a single color with no stripes etc as you say :good:

Can't wait to see the wheel inserts ! :D

Wheels can make or break a complete car so I spent all weekend getting these inserts fitted.

IMG_2256-vi.jpg

5-spoke AMT wheels were carved up and carefully sanded down to a tight fit inside the Russkit re-pop set screw wheels.
No glue needed, they fit very tight but can be carefully pressed out with an axle if need be.
Tires in front are E.J.'s rubber and the Cox rears were replaced with Ortmann silicone Firestone pieces from Electric Dreams.

The inside of the rim was painted flat black before the final press fit of the insert.

IMG_2258-vi.jpg

Here is a mock-up of the chassis and body. Still need to cut the axles to fit.
But stance is look'n GOOD!

Thank you guys!

As an aside, I got handed a paper sack of Retro Can-Am bodies from the locals a couple days ago. So... this project is on the back burner at the moment as I squirt some paint on racing shells.
