Brass chassis challenge

Well, I finally got back to this project. Painted 3 racing shells for the local group and then Revell wanted a piece for box art so that pushed this project even further back.... till yesterday.
Yesterday I pulled the chassis out and got it FINISHED!
Yeah, not quite a "Stinger" exhaust. But my research showed that the Stinger was only used on dune buggies. Not "Cal Look" bugs!
So... this is a brass replica of an EMPI Products exhaust system.
See!
Okay, with the frame made, time to assemble.
Motor is an unmodified 16D which remains NOS with stock brushes. This car is suppose to be a "Tooler" made for tooling around the track. Not a race car.
Just the same, I installed Ortmann rear tires for max grip on any track surface. I also trued them to ensure they don't hop too badly.
Time to put it all together!

We have chassis!
All wheels clear the fenders, so time to start scratch building a suitable interior for this Bug!
Since this is a beach bug... I think it needs two occupants and maybe even a surfboard rack?
What'cha think?

Spent all day Thursday putting together a suitable interior for this Bug.
Wanted a boy and girl scene wearing beach gear with folded beach towels on the back seat and Lunch on the floor. Most of this will be paint of course because the interior had to be shortened to clear the motor and chassis... but I can mostlikely do it with paint.
Driver is Fujimi and the passenger resin figure by Jimmy Flintstone with arms from Fujimi. But not done yet.....
Mounted in the car the stance and look is spot on.
I cut open the windows because most bugs were not air conditioned and the first thing you did was roll the windows down before even shutting the doors. Anyone who has owned or ridden in one of these tight little cocoons will testify that that is the only way to get the doors to shut.
Before heading to bed I added the tops of the doors and some putty to the figures. Ready for paint I suppose.
But, gotta head to work. Love Thursdays because I get so much done, hate Fridays 'cause I answer phones and try to give people a clue. Oh well, helps pay the bills.
Jairus out.

Is there something in the water?
I mean really!
This has been a strange day.
All I have tried to do is build a slot car, but the phone calls and emails are OFF THE HOOK!
News is all over the map, my friends are bickering and the stupid Arabs are about to attack Israel... sheesh.
It's enough to make a builder unplug the damn soldering iron.....
But not yet.
No, not yet.
All I've tried to do is keep my '58 wagon running and my iron hot.
This is the latest project.
It's a 5" wheelbase chassis built to fit one of those weird Citroën Traction Avant bodies that Ralph sent me.
No idea the venue... so I went standard RWD with the motor and Dynamic bracket he sent.
More as I progress.

Citroën Traction Avant
At least that's the look and paint I am going for.
Finished the chassis today.
Don't know where the wheels and tires come from. They were owner supplied as was the Tradeship motor and Dynamic motor bracket.
The Dynamic guide tongue is a reproduction by R-Geo.
Time for paint and to manufacture an interior plate.

Even has adjustable timing!
Problem is the magnet is not strong enough and the arm HUGE with 5 poles. Runs smooth as silk and work great as a train engine. But for a slot car?

Thank you guys!
Progress on the Citroen Traction Avant is that I finally finished the interior.
Not that much of it is visible through those tiny windows.
The figure is the top half of a Scale Equipment girl. Steering wheel and seat backs are just scrap box parts. The rest was scratchbuilt from styrene sheet and rod.
Body is painted and mounted, but I'm still fussing with some of the details. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon...

Final pictures for the Traction Avant.
I suspect that the vacuum molder used a model kit to create the shape. But they left off the molded grill, hood hinge trim strip and taillights.
I wasn't going to purchase an expensive model kit just to make this work, but did my very best with the crap that I had.
That said, the wheel inserts are just chrome reverse extras in my stash painted to look like Régis' wheels.... mostly.
Time to get back to Oliver's little beach-bug and make a roof rack.
See you later!
