I got my Issue and I love it, great Bathroom reading.
Can not wait for number 2.
Not quite sure how to take that.
You might try purchasing Charmin Ultra Soft instead for number 2.

Just ordered the first issue from PCH.
Overseas shipping was $11.95 - seems a tad high. I know rates have gone up and all that, but when Brother Bob forwards my MCR, it usually runs about $7, depending on issue size.
Ordering process was relatively painless; will there be overseas subscription options?

No reason the R4-8 shouldn't be in the next issue.
Break-
Let me rephrase, that double negative sounded too wishy-washy:
The R4-8 event should be in the next issue, and Cap Henry on the cover.
Cheater got pics, Noose got reports ... Bam!... it's almost done.

So.... tell them to submit. Do I need to beg everyone for articles?
By the way, David decided to no longer submit and John is in the wind, not responding to my requests. Looks like issue #2 will go out with-out any HO input.
As for your third mentioned contributor Bob.... every heard of a "anagram"?

I'll ask 'Starkist' if he can do another write up this year for the 2nd annual "Rods & Rails" proxy. He's real good at it.
Right Charlie?

I pull NOTHING from posted threads Bob. It is either submitted to me with script and high res photos with captions, or it doesn't get printed.
If the information and pictures are available on the forum for free.... why would anyone want to buy the magazine?

I gotta agree with Jairus on this.
It's much better if a contributor puts the whole package together and submits it.
Giving someone a whole bunch of stuff to go through, then compile it into an article is very time consuming.
I manage a few car club websites, and members give me memory sticks with hundreds of photo's from various events, and say "use what want" or "pick out the things you think are suitable". They don't care if they get used or not, so I spend many hours to plod through 90% crap to find a few worthwhile images to use. I only do it because I want the photo's and try to make it easy for the contributors.
I guess you could say the same thing about the magazine, but in this case it's us who want the magazine, so we should make it easy for the publisher and editor to produce the quality and entertaining magazine that we want and need.

And... that the contributor gets paid for. Don't forget that.
I don't mind digging up my old projects to fill pages. But I would rather print articles about projects readers have not yet seen. If the subject matter is already on the forums... they are much less inclined to buy the magazine.

The race reports are pretty much all over the internet. I think the mag would better serve more people by having its unique original articles on things like building, tuning and some of the trick stuff out there people are doing that doesnt show up o the internet.
I know I personally stopped buying a lot of racing magazines simply because it is months old rehashed news I had on the day it happened..
Print media is the hardest to sell these days because of the internet. I think the magazine is on the right path.

Tony P is exactly right!!! this mag does not need to print race reports that anyone can read about on the web. One of the big problems SARN had in the internet age was that much of its content was stale race reports. Good how-to content is priceless!
As to HO, well its a waste of space IMO, & plastic 1/32 is not far behind... but thats just me.
I haven't been here on SB recently because I am slot drag racing 4 to 5 nights a week at 3 different tracks...
Haven't seen this publication yet, but looking forward to it. Since I moved, I haven't gotten back to the Drag construction article I am working on, must rectify this soon.

What I'd like to see with regard to the races and such is the back stories that go with each race.
Sometimes these stories are never told, and should be.
Behind the scenes things, stuff you don't see online, and then maybe an overview of national points, if that's something.
I have no idea about this side of the hobby, and I think the mag is willing to take risks every once in a while.
As far as not running certain scales or types of slots, that's just not going to happen.
We will cover ALL SLOT CARS, yes, even the "door stops"
Just my two cents, for what's it not worth...

When we get more people to contribute besides Gregg and I.
I can't hold my tongue any longer.
Several people, myself included, contributed articles with photos as requested on a voluntary non-profit basis. I also did spell/grammar checks.
Don't bother asking me to contribute again.

How did I cross your sensibilities?
I have asked and even begged many members of this here forum for articles that are right in their wheelhouse and been told flatly no!
If you look through the pages you will see that the majority of the pages are submissions by Gregg and I. But it shouldn't be that way. It should be a cross section of the hobby at large with writers chiming in from all corners.
We had 3 additional contributors; That has to grow or the mag dies.
For example the average contributors to a Model Cars Mag has 8 to 11 names listed.
I can't keep it up by myself. And while I appreciate your and David's help. Telling me that you no longer want to be asked is... not helpful.

You are (or were) in the fold along with David and Tony P. The statement was addressed to those who have not helped out or who have refused to help because they are comfortable posting on a forum.
But.... no worries.

I've tried twice to gently nudge you into understanding your post # 208 was very poorly worded and totally disrespectful to those of us who contributed ("besides Gregg and I"). The magazine credited us on page 4, but your post totally denied all of it.
Maybe I just don't comprehend the English language
