On a slightly more serious note...

Better than previously own bed pans ... :laugh2:  :bad:  Don't try to solder pin tubes to them  :o   :sarcastic_hand:

Anyting the Professor said 'is right by me'. :good:

If anyone is going to use an arm like a Parma S16D 'Please' consider this is a 'vintage' race and remove the 'green stuff' off the lamination crowns ... Send it out, true it or a drill and W/D sandpapers, a little oil or water helps. Takes a while  :wacko2:

I say 'reach for the 23'

Pin tube can be soldered in 4 places ... and/or glued/epoxied.

Now trying to decipher exactly what motor mounts I have in stock. Not easy when there's no model# on them! Now trying what motors I have to see if they line up :laugh2:

I was thinking the same thing this morning Bob, about removing the green coating on my cheapie Parma S16d arm....I remembered this topic from a previous thread a few years ago, and I dug thru my collection and found a new one that didn't look too bad...

I got it almost all off, then noticed that I'd sanded part way thru one of the wires...   oh well....maybe try it again with another one... :laugh2:

Or...

Maybe the Dynamic (Mura) "semi-can" with versitec magnets (a part available for the one hole Dynamic / Mura "A" can I believe? I don't have the Dynamic stock number, but I've seen them in Dynamic packaging) in an AMT purple Mabuchi 16d can...and a .500 dia. G15 arm...?

Something that I have read in virtually all of the previous Proxy races is that it doesn't necessarily work to ones advantage to build a real powerful motor...but something a bit more tractable is what I'm thinking about...something that is potentially more fun for the guys to drive, and keep it in the slot...(hopefully :) )

That would be a very hot set-up.

Confirmed all with Bill.

He is excited to share the fun and will be sure to have 'track specialists' on hand for this event.

Date set - 12/16/2015

Entry fee - $20.00

Good news we will be racing on a "Brand New" oval track ....

After the damage from the AC condensate pan leak the track was deemed un-repairable and to the landfill it went.

Last call - Registration closes on 7/15/2015, that will give entrants 6 months to build and ship.

Thank you to those that have entered.

Bill Pinch and I agreed - "This will be a fun vintage race on all 3 tracks."

I'm thinking the only "yea" vote will be from John Cauthen.

If only the powers that were back then just said NO to those ridiculous wings.

I'll add the votes cast to the post #119.

Thanks.

Sam, while that 'aircraft grade' material choice may not be astatically pleasing there is no denying that those appendages sure helped them fly.

Nope not add on like that... although one off thingies and thingies in general with swoopiness molded in would be fine :good: ;)

Heck was even thinking of dusting off the woodworking skillz for a body mold :D

Yes :good: ;) and like that one I showed you the picture of. I found the picture in the 2011 dynamic proxy thread you linked to in your post to Jay . The dyna-slider.

Mentioning you want to leave it open for thingies, one offs etc even ones from competitors own molds.

Just letting my mind wander (dangerous thing)....let me see....my '69 mach I had a wing on the back, and an air dam (diaplane?) style front "spoiler"... :D

If I built a 36D (Champion 707) in the Dynamic sidewinder bracket and put a '69 Mustang fastback body on it...hmmm...could I tack enough "wings" on it to keep it on the track...make it competative?(it might do o.k. on a swoopy track and the strip, but a twisty road course...forget it :sarcastic_hand:

Anyway....I guess what I'm saying is that the "added" aero appendages are a Pandora's box...and I think (my vote) we should keep the no added wings, spoilers, appendages bit.

My choice of chassis is really heading towards an inline 16D powered for over-all compromise performance on all of the tracks.

Or...??? did Dynamic make a 16D sidewinder style cast motor bracket similar to the 26 and 36 style full sidewinder?

Yes they did, but I believe only in the can drive style...

I would also vote against the appendages, even tho they are really period correct. I would also have voted against the Thingies in fact... but I assume we're allowing period handling bodies?

Don

PS: will the cars be running with any kind of glue?
