I love Jimmy Webb.

He used to be a fairly regular guest on a local radio show.

By the way, the name of the song is Wichita Lineman.

I love it and Galveston, another Jimmy Webb song, popularized by Glen Campbell.

Oops! I always get that wrong. I even looked at it on Wiki earlier and still got it wrong.

I never gave Webb much thought until I read an article about how great he was. I started paying more attention to his music afterward and became a fan.

He would perform in Chicago, periodically.

He wasn't a Glen Campbell, but sang well enough I bought one of his CD's, with all his famous songs.

Phil: I don't need disparaging comments about my parents. And they were pre-Beatles. Totally classical and opera. They fully supported my involvement with the public school music program, in which I played trombone for six years. Guitar became my choice, and they didn't oppose it as long as I kept my school grades up.

It's fine. I am often over sensitive to comments about my folks. They worked hard to give my brother and me the best life they could, and never were able to enjoy the fruits of their labors. By age 26 I was mostly supporting the family financially, my Dad was working in a dying industry, and I was doing very well. But they never lived to enjoy any retirement.

Sultans of Swing [Cover by Mary Spender and Josh Turner]

This guy is making some fine music considering most of it seems to be done in his living room.

While my band(The Anderson Council) isn't a cover band, we have appeared on various tribute records.

Here's our cover of a Beach Boys chestnut: https://www.youtube....h?v=nAgD9aO5hTM

And something by John Lennon: https://www.youtube....h?v=oemwa0K-SHc

And something from The Knack's criminally underrated 3rd album: https://www.youtube....h?v=lb_2y8voNk0

And something by XTC: https://futuremanrec...me-digital-only

Enjoy.

While sitting at my work table for hours I have started to explore Spotify more for different music. Recently I have been pulling up cover versions of various songs. So far the song Creep by Radiohead seems to be covered by so many different artists you would spend a day listening to them all. The Pretenders have a great version but most of the others do not come close to the original.
