R4/10 motor announcement

Went to a few high profile R/C races where we found out there was only one motor per person because of slacking while ordering motors.

And... everyone is doing the same thing. Dear god, the horror of all of us playing on the same field.

The hand-wringing over motors will never cease. Handing out warm, fresh off the charger motors will warm even the most jaded and skeptical competitor's heart.

If the IRRA® would just outlaw all motors, we wouldn't have these problems!

It just kills me that slot racers will test everything they can get their hands on: motors, chassis, bodies, tires, gear ratios, even oil, yet when a track owner wants to test a different race format or arrangement, it's like the sky is falling.
McMasters has put a lot of thought into his hand-out motor test and not only has he publicly admitting it is basically a test, and largely explained the reasons for wanting to test this format, he's not getting much respect for wanting to try something different to see if it can be a better 'mousetrap.'
Makes one wonder why anyone would want to own a raceway, even if there was a little profit to be made from doing so (and there isn't).

Why can't all the motors be broken in ahead of time? Can't they be broken in like 10 or 20 at a time?
Crunch the numbers, Mark.
Record Can-Am entry was (IIRC) 70. If everyone bought four (and some won't, of course) that's 280 motors. Even if the average was three motors, that would be 210. Not really practical to do what you suggest.
And McMasters couldn't delegate the task because there would no doubt be those who would impugn the integrity of the person to whom it was delegated.

So let's see a seven-hour drive, four nights in a hotel, food, gas, entry fees, now extra motor costs, and you want me to just strap a motor in, Mike? Really?
Only extra motor costs if you have already bought tons of motors for the event. I haven't yet, so actually, the hand-out motor deal will be cheaper for me.

These hand-outs had better be in factory packaging.

They have been in packaging in the past. I know, Cindy and I opened them then I engraved them.
Gil, no, I have not already bought "tons" of motors. In fact though, about 80 percent of the ones I do have are left over hand-outs from prior Premier races that I bought to support to support the raceway.

Noose, I've heard rumors there are people who drive nine hours (with most of that other stuff you mentioned) just to attend the event, see their friends, and help out.
Hey Greg: And I have heard rumors that some people do the same, do tech, take pictures and write reports, race and OMG even lend out cars to others so they can race. Also take no breaks during the race to monitor the goings-on to avoid any problems. Now, lets add some more complexity to it by having to thrash some more.
Give me a freaging break.
At the end of the day it is Mike's race. He can do what he wants. Have fun.

Amazing how you have been doing this so long and you think it's all about motor. If you can't run the motor you want you just quit. Nice to see such welcoming ideas on a new test way of doing an IRRA® premier race. It's a good example for all.
What if I cover your entries for Coupe and Can-Am? Since you don't like hand-out I'll cover your race fees if you join us for those two classes.

It's not all about the motor. It's about the 7Ps.
Proper Prior Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance.
You whine about the "top guys" wanting prep time. How do you think they became top guys?
That offer has already been made and turned down, thank you.
