OK two cases of Blue Moon!
Hey, if Diet Coke worked for Al Rutti one year to break in his motor maybe Blue Moons will do the trick.

Some people don't like hand-out motors and others do. It's what it is. No one is required to attend all the races.
Noose has attended and etched every Premier race except one. He owes no one anything. If he doesn't like hand-outs for Can-Am and the extra work associated with it added to his usual busy day that is up to him. You guys should be thanking him for what he has done to make the big races run smoothly instead of bitching he is not going to the R4 because of his stand on hand-outs. I doubt anyone else would commit to using their vacation time and their prep and practice time at the races to do the tech for, what, eight years now, all on his own dollar.
Anyone care to step up to do the job from now on so Joe can just attend races and not worry about the bullshit?

With Noose not coming, Tony, I can think of two kind gentlemen who will be donating their time in order to run tech. And if my assumption is correct the two will help the line move smoothly and get everyone in with no hiccups. They have been doing it perfectly in ORS lall season long.

Well, Tony, if Noose does bail on R4/10 as he insists, there obviously will be a different tech team in place. There certainly could be a different one doing tech if he did attend.
I think it's worth pointing out that, just as no one is requried to attend all the races, Noose has never been required to be the Tech Nazi at the majority of the Premier races. It was his choice to take on that job and everyone who has attended the races has to appreciate that.
You nailed it: "Some people don't like hand-out motors" and it seems Noose clearly is one of them. If the offers of free motors, someone to break them in for him, someone to pay his entry fees, and having others handle tech doesn't sway him, that's a pretty obvious conclusion, no?

Butters, I know of others who have volunteered privately to help at tech.

And so then we would hear why does Noose get all this special treatment and not the others? C'mon man. Get real. This is not about me not liking hand out motors. I race in all the GTC-Pro races we have had where we have hand-outs. I thrash like everyone else.
This is about hand-outs for Can-Am and the time it is going to take for 60 plus racers, etc. The Premier race at the R4. The event that has been fine for nine previous years without hand-outs.
If there was no change in the format I would be there on Thursday as usual. I have been talking up the event the last year to folks since it is the 10th Anniversary.

What's the big deal with Noose not coming?
There are at least a couple of guys who actually like Noose and like hanging with him who will be disappointed not to have him in the house. Maybe more than a couple. Maybe a lot more than a couple.
I personally find it a little disappointing that the impact hand-out motors might have on his on-track performance seems to be of primary importance, but, hey, that's just me. Since people have offered to offset virtually all of his list of objections to hand-outs, it has to boil down to the fact that he simply doesn't like hand-out motors. Wish he'd have stated just that.

I already said it's his race and he can do what he wants. Several times.

I think, like most others, waiting until Sat morning to hand out motors is asking for trouble with maybe 60-plus people trying to all do the same thing with limited pit space and very, very limited track time. Handing out motors for both Can-Am and Coupe on at least Friday morning, hopefully Thursday, could get worked in here some how; it sure would help with the break-in process.
People come from all over paying good momey, missing work, etc., for this event every year and just to show up and hope I can break-in and test mutiple motors for literally hours is silly to not only me but clearly others as well.
I'm not against hand-outs and I'll be there no matter the rules, at least this year anyhow and will form opinions for next year and afterward.
It's Mike's event and whatever he does is the way it is but wanting people to travel across the country to hope and pray for good hand-outs is not the way to keep people coming back.

Wah, wah, wah, all the crying and bitching about this race. It's a "Premier" slot car race, using toy cars that we enjoy running, racing, and sometimes seeking camaraderie.
I understand a lot of everyone's concerns about this race, but Mike has made the decision to run it this way and let's move on. Everyone has stated their concerns... OK. So let's not harp on them any more. Let's move on and see how the race will turn out. Bitching and crying really never got anything accomplished, unless you were a five-year old that had to cry about what you wanted.
Let's remember these are "toy" cars and we should all be having fun, win or lose or get yourself another hobby. After all it's not the "end of the world" if you don't win.
Flame on!

I think I need to wait to see when motors are given out and what kind of time is given for break-in and practice time...
With having to prep two cars and two sets of motors, I'm not sure I can even pull it off... We barely had enough time last year in Coupe and that was with half the entries of Can-Am... And with Aaron waiting in line for us while I prepped cars for practice...

In the past, there was open practice on Friday night after the GTC Pro race. Usually went from 6 or 7 PM until 10 PM. Will we be allowed to use our hand-out motors in this practice session?

I don't think you have ever attended an R4. Am I wrong?

Must have been one of the rare R4s I missed, probably due to my divorce happening at about that time that year. Been to most of them.
Sounds like you didn't have any fun at all...
