Bob,

It's a Wallenda-style shaker pan array.

I'm presently getting some centers and outer pans made in .040" stock, if anybody's interested. We Right Coasters seem to be trending toward a little extra mass in our F1s, and the .040" plate should be a wee bit more durable in a bad crash.

Thanks, Cap... eight x .047" on the rails?

Thanks, Mr. D.  in the picture, with the rails being thinner than the pans/center wouldn't there be 'drop'... or do the four wire stops prevent any drop?

Hmmm, if the two front down stops were moved back toward rear edge of the center slab there could be some torsional drop at speed while still passing clearance in tech? The stub front pin tubes would act as a down stop limiter. Thinking out loud...

Looks like my grandson did the notes... LOL

The front and rear stops keep the pans from dropping below the rails.

I guess you could do that, but I don't really understand the concept.

The thought is... lower CG at speed from body downforce and more so in banked turns due to inertia.

If it is like your other mega rail builds, that right one is going to work really well!

I forgot to mention ththe right one is heavily based off a Tony P design he posted.

I think it'll be fast; if nothing else it looks cool. LOL.

Here's a few shots of the chassis I made for the Sano and SERRA Series.

Love that top chassis pictured. Any way to acquire one?

Not to answer for Jay, but he normally just builds for himself. I've can't recall him ever selling a chassis or building for anyone else, even me!

I just tumble them in some diamond chip only to clean and stress relieve the chassis. Looks never really get you to the podium.

Cap,

Did the pin tube supports make your life easier, or NBD?

Mike,

On these cars they were an afterthought, so I had to cut them to fit the open spaces, thus they weren't any easier then brass squares, but they produce a much nicer look and added some bracing to the pans.

They'd be sweet if I had planned to use them from the git-go. LOL.

One of my new builds... have done like four recently along with some rebuilds.

Warmack nosepiece and motor bracket, Duffy original guide tongue with .032" spacer, seven rails a side of .039" wire, Samson fronts, .039" wire pans, .032" shaker plate, bearings in back. 3-7/8" wheelbase, 7/8" guide lead. Came in at 104 grams as shown.

Initial testing at Holly Hill with a motor that hasn't fully come in yet puts it about .05 slower than my best car there. Should work well at the shorter hillclimbs. Very stable when used with small hub Kelly retros, or medium hub JK treated.

Thinking about doing a similar design with a lightweight Warmack nose plate and lighter components to do a 80-85 gram Can-Am Plus car.

One of my latest F1 builds, and has proven to be an excellent and fast car. Let Danny Z test it for me at Holly Hill yesterday and it was great to see what it could do in a better driver's hands.

War Pig F1, based on a Duffy War Beaver platform. Four rails each side of .047" wire, pans of six wires of .039", Duffy tongue with .032" spacer soldered underneath, Bartos front axle, HVR fronts, .039" wire pan stops in the back, and just a shade more shaker plate and pan movement than a stock version. Parma BRM body. Very fast and sticks to the track like glue. Was going to run this at P1 but the flexi "Retro" program was dragging on so I left early.

Another F1 built as the same time as the above War Pig F1. This one loosely based on an R-Geo Toronto F1 kit, but not built as a tuning fork. We will call this one "Crankenstein". Could never get the tuning fork chassis builds to work on the Hillclimbs down here, so I transferred some Duffy and Tony P ingenuity to the build and used Duffy style wallenda pans.

Chassis rails of five rails a side of .047" wire, stock pans cut down, .032" shaker plate, Samson fronts, pan limiters of .039" wire in the back, Chicagoland McLaren body (thanks, Mike... great body to mount).

A very nice simple build that tested well at P1 when I was on the track with it, and after doing some more refining and changing the motor out to a stronger one, was within a hair's breath of the War Pig in lap times at Holly Hill. When the new motor breaks in, it's going to be a beast and will be hard to choose between the two.

And again, thanks to Danny Z for taking it for some laps for me Saturday. I can get a better idea of tuning and see what the chassis is doing when I let someone else drive it. Made a couple of small adjustments, and it got even better. Virtually no weight needed on this one for tuning.
