Florida is so chassi unfriendly. After cleaning they start to rust and delelop patina with in hours. Have to keep everything in plastic bags.
I have a good solution for that. After tumbling I use "Pledge Floor Care with Future" available at Walmart. Apply with a 1" wide foam brush. It coats and seals the brass and steel protecting it from the elements and leaves it looking nice.
When you want to remove it or re coat, simply spray with Windex and rinse and it's gone. You can solder through it for emergency repairs, but it's better to remove coating with Q-Tip and Windex.

The metal polish not only shines it up I have found it prevents rusting. I also put some light oil in the hinges.

Bartos clearcoats all his cars and masks areas you'll solder, like the motor bracket. Works pretty good.
He quit clearcoating mine because I kept modifying them. LOL.

New chassis built for smooth King G18 and a very smooth Hillclimb. Chassis is 49 grams; car needs to be 100 grams to comply so will need to add a small amount of lead.
No hinges or movement - based on a very light car I built before (when we didn't have a weight limit) Chicagoland guide tongue, and 16 gauge brass.

Been a while since I submitted to this - I wanted to build an F1 in a similar style to my usual preference, but with slightly different dimensions. This is the result.
C/R coined 1" nose, R-Geo 1" bracket, JK fronts
.940" guide lead
3-15/16" wheelbase
.062"/.055" rails
shaker pans/center weight, .047" wire in 3/32" square tubing
*NO up/down movement at all, only movement is fore/aft and side to side
weight with C/R Mc:aren body - 98.5 grams, not quite Noose-worthy yet!
She came out lighter than I anticipated. Needs a gram and a half to make tech minimum weight, and probably at least 6-7 grams on top of that to be at a comfortable race weight

Ran the car; is OK - but might swap the side rails out to .047". Nneeds more traction - I think it is too stiff.

My take on building a stock car out of the R-Geo Dragonslayer 7. I think this will be a good car, but the amount of time/work it took to make this come out the way I envisioned it in my head was substantial. A scratchbuilt frame would likely have taken the same amount of time or less. The parts themselves were fine, I just had to extensively modify a few things to suit my purposes. Its not flawless, but I'm pleased with the outcome
R-Geo DS 7 parts
R-Geo 2 degree bracket
C/R guide tongue
.062" shaker center weight
.750 guide lead, 4.5 wheelbase
Weight - 129 grams ready to run, with Parma Cyclone body

Looking to get a cheap but large enough tumbler to clean up my work. Is a rock tumbler what you guys are using? And what lbs rating will I need to get a drum large enough to fit slot cars in it?

The car handled real good , turned a 4.22 , my best time with my best racecar was 4.201, so I need to put a better motor in the new car now and see what it will do .
