Interesting but doesn't look like it will survive a crash. I am guessing it will weigh about 85-90 grams all built up. Are you cleaning/scuffing up the brass and steel before you solder it?

Well the front of the pans move left to right and the whole pan moves front to rear. there is a "bite Bar" as i would call it in the rear that effectively makes this a 2 piece however the bar is rather soft so there is a lot of movement. i think its too fragile in this current configuration but this is my first outta my head build and i honestly like the progress. only thing prefab was the .062 hypoid Rgeo rear bracket which i admittedly didn't work on enough to get it straight as i would have liked it to be.... shoulder pain and cranky... excuses... anywho! I was working on a Gt12 chassis and i was like WAIT A MINUTE!! and then i built this... yeah that was the thought process. haha!

Here's my latest flat track F-1 build. It's a LONG cadillac. 4.2 x .900 guide lead. .062 rails--1 piano 1 bronze Mike Swiss 3/4 tongue and Kamo San motor bracket!! Shaker style outer rails with .062 inner weight. She's VERY smooth on our BPR MTT Flat track. I'm looking forward to the next race in a few weeks. Should be a contender for the podium!!

Yeah--the solder joints don't look like they've "flowed" too well!! It looks like you need to buff up your piano wire and brass before you solder!! Then MORE heat and acid flux!! Once you've finished then Ajax and a wire brush will make it nice and clean!! Note the difference in my chassis above from the finished build to the RTR! It's been polished up with ajax and a wire brush which brightens up everything and makes it look much nice/cleaner!! FYI

Those are "Unobtanium"!! Kamo made them for me last year--I got 5 of them and I'm hanging on to them!! But any good 3/4" bracket will do! R Geo has them-- I"ve got another build in the tumbler now--when I pull it out later tonight I'll post a couple of pics!! It's an old "Hanada" car that Kamo built for me back in 2011--- it was narrow---so I melted the old car apart and used the bits to build another like the one above!! A little lighter---but same style build!

Sorry it's upside down.
Also thanks to Tony for talking to me about the design before I built it

Made some changes and tumbled it. Thanks for the suggestions and such. Saw a few retro guys over the weekend and they said it looks like a good car for a swoopy track. Haven't had a chance for track testing yet. Looking forward to to that!

My Favorite Tony P. F1
John/Tony,
What kind of track was that chassis built for? King? Flat? Other?

Grant Goerner built one also and it ran great this past weekend.
It ran really well for not having any tuning time on it. .078 rails with .040 brass throughout , Mswiss rear bracket. It came in light at 101.5 gms all up. I am going to add a center pan in the future.

One piece brass...little or no longitudinal flex due to either double .062 or .078...maybe some twist due to the frontal convergence. I'd love to know more about the theory behind this one, if someone is willing to divulge. Maybe Tony P, the master himself?
