Nice work, Dom, (despite mentioning every spec and dimension of the chassis, except for my bracket - LOL)

Terrific bracing, especially on and around the axle tube and bracket.

Hi Bill, yes the center weight can be removed be removing the pin. The head of the pin creates enough tension to keep the weight in place and still allow movement. This will allow the car to be easily converted to a lighter Can Am if I choose.

New F1 for me for NERR this weekend. Just like the one I built in post 2645 but all wire rails instead of a brass/wire combo.

15/16" Guide lead
4-1/16" wheel base
CR guide tongue
CR 1.380" bracket
Nose is .032 brass.
Pans and center weight are .064
Rails are .062 wire
Bartos front axle
58 grams

Very interesting---all the "shaking" going on the inside of the chassis.  Very cool

Here's a new King Track car I built for BPR. EZ design - simple four rails with a shaker using Warmack parts- front, guide tongue, and motor bracket.

Okay, I know there is enough solder to choke a horse but I started with a kit from another that just did not work and I built this from it. Twin 055 main rails and 047 side rails. I also changed how the pams move to try something. Take a look and let me know how I did on my first partial build. Ans I know it needs a motor brace. That has to wait a little while.

Spotted this on Facebook and since I knew Oscar I wanted to save it over here.

Posted by Haruki, build by Koichi Kamoshita.

"Kamo-san and I named this type of F1 chassis DIO.
"DIO" is "Damm It, Oscar!" to commemorate the late Mr. Oscar Morales, our Retro racing comrade and member of Team Tokyo at Buena Park Raceway.

We miss you, Oscar."

The builders at Retro Tokyo are simply world-class and maybe even better than that.

It's part of the Japanese culture. Metal working isn't the only art form they excel at. Woodworking is another one.

It's like a torsion, tuning, slipjoint, shaker all in one. Really nice build and very thoughtful.

Wow! That's beautiful.

Am I understanding this right? It looks like the outer rails aren't soldered to anything. They're just hinge pins.

Okay, so here us photo of my most recent experiment into lightness. Not that light but for me it is. This car was reborn from a failed prior test. It still is not great but getting there. 055 tails with a small brass rail down each side. Built from a ds front bracket. Weighs ~105 with body as seen but hates to power out if a turn. Needs some more evil influence.🎃

I suggest when you finish building the chassis bring it to your kitchen sink and polish it with an SOS pad. This will remove the acid residue and help prevent rust. Don't use Brillo!

It had a .85gl and a 3.9 wheel base, jk treated tires and a parma ti22nn body. I ran it on the hurricane at our local track. The car just would not pop out of a corner, just too loose. It had to be made to want to pull out of the corner as it would just become evil loose on corner exit, even with the guide set right. So it got pulled apart and is on the way to a new rebuild. I think the rail length between the hinges caused the issue, too short making it twichy. I pulled it apart and moved the hinges toward the extremes to get a slower response. I had also tried naturals but still had trouble. Corner speed was better but the tendency was still there. All part of the fun. And mike, I am on the way to the sink as we speak.

Okay, here is the last car almost rebuilt, just needs a bite bar to be added. Same GL and wheel base as it had but more rail length and with a better feel for 2 rails of 055. I did make the two brass pads on two hinges and shake to the pans. I am on full experimental right now until I get a real builder block and will continue to tear down what don't work. I am out of places to hide things from the wife.
