Hi Chris,

You said you heated the thick brass with a torch--If you need to do that then your soldering iron either is not robust enough or it is not transferring the heat to the metal properly. Most likely the latter. Seems like you are channeling a Jersey John chassis here--this was his inspiration for that design. I built two of them a few years ago.

Nice Mike---note how CLEAN all the parts are! That is how to start your soldering---everything will stick better and easier with clean parts.  Then very little solder and LOT'S of acid flux!!  Good example of good technique!

She's real fine, my 409!!!

Thanks, Tim!! Here is the other side no tumbler used just some metal polish. You can see my ugly face in it.

Hey Mike,

Which tires are those? I always have to chop the nose.

Cap is correct – HVR.

But if you look close, JJ, you will see I have the chassis rail inside the axle upright. Very time-consuming rail to get the correct bends while still laying flat!! :)

I asked Jersey John to make a stock car chassis out of the Go Fast GFR-1 chassis.

Below is what he came up with.

Looks good Cap. Is the top rail soldered in the middle of just on the ends?

A motor is only as fast as the chassis it's in.

Okay, so I have been watching and listening. More flux, more heat, longer heat to really get the lead to flow. And the end result is an F1 to try and run at HVR at the end of the month. It has two steel .062" rails and one brass .062" and the rails are not soldered full length. I know I need a guide reinforcement but I am waiting on materials for that.😉
