Rick,

As I said, the Victory Formula 1 kit is one of the most flexible designs I've seen. It allows you to do lots of stuff and all of it works very, very ell.]

Here's one chassis that is very simple to build and works extremely well.

I have to wait until my "Victory-LaRacha" comes back home. Once it does, I'll post photos of it!

Like I said, flexibility is the key - no limit designed in.

Josh,

Very cool! Yet another Plumber build!

I like it!

All of these Victory builds coming out of the woodwork! Just imagine what we could have seen had Rick not canceled the Victory chassis building contest!

Here's yet another Plumber style, but with a wrinkle thrown in. It is a torsional ISO chassis - ala "La Cucaracha". The torsion effect keeps the front of the chassis suspended, yet let's it work very nicely in turns. It will really run a turn very nice. I had ran this up in Abbeville, but due to a motor that decided to slow way down at the beginning of the race and then started to make a comeback, I did not finish where I felt the car was capable of.

BTW, nice job on the Aero build! I like it.

I'm going to give my newest build a run tomorrow.

BTW, I wish I were able to come up to the R4 this year, but it is not in the cards this year!

Marty, you are going to have to get rid of that heatsink when my "Evil Bucks Racer" model comes out later this month..

hi Marty, Would you be able to share the thought behind the up sweep on the pans at the rear please?

PerryV,

The "Theory" is that it adds downforce to the rear tires at speed as the 'aero' curve presses on the outer pans adding traction under speed.

The chassis works extremely well, so I build that way.

45 years ago- I made this - building a chassis is FUN-
Now I am doing chassis for a home track 1/32 setup using rinky dink motors etc., with scale bodies -
The new wheels n tires are only mod from original setup -
more guys should try it
it is fun and theraputic.
The new chassis by James is really slick

Dick, how about posting some topside photos of this chassis with the body off? I intended to ask when I first saw this phote the other day, in I think, another thread. There are a few of us here who would enjoy seeing how you put it all together. Thanks!

I made this one a few weeks ago, I reused an old Parma front section,
the pans are K&S but I didn't have enough length for full length pans.

Thanks Guys.
Stoo its not a problem to run the cars for testing at Win-em or Browns Plains.
As Browns Plains is not far from where I live and after being involved with Win-em Slot Cars
we have low numbers of people racing in Commercial Tracks right now, maybe its because of
the build up in popularity of home and club tracks but that is the challenge we have right now.

PerryV,

Nothing to apologize for on that build, nothing at all.

I like what I see and I'me sure it will work quite nicely.

Thanks for sharing.

Now that's something really different Marty!

Quick update with my F-1 from post 289, the extra bracing worked great and smoothened the car right out. The design is a success!

A motor is only as fast as the chassis it's in.

Dom,

I'm NOT picking on ya' pardner, but there is a reason this is called a "GALLERY" - that is one should post photos so we can all ogle the work, update our notes and learn from each othere. Now, I'm not saying that you're not doing your part for the team or anything else like that, but how about posting some photos so we can see the changes you made?

Thanks.

Marty,

It's actually the same pictures I posted. The only difference was that the first time out I did not have a brace in front of the motor or a brace behind the motor bracket. I did not take a photo of the chassis until after adding the bracing. The bracing was added to keep the rear end from "turning" or "steering" when the motor torqued up. The steering effect came about because of the way I bent the main rails. With the bracing added it still allowed the chassis to have some twisty flex allowing the axles to remain parallel when the motor torques up but eliminated the rear "steering" problem.

A motor is only as fast as the chassis it's in.

This is my Iso-Flex F1, it weights 64 grams so far with all brass from .063"
I am waiting for the shipment of bodies to come in so I can have it finished.
I just made it to the wide marks on the retro pro jig.

Hey Marty,..some Nice chassis !!

You Know, whilst considering How the 'Front End' of My rather effective Plafit 1/32 scale car is set up, (How SOFT it is and How the Wheels and Guide move relative to the Rear end), I had been 'Toying', with Just such an Idea, as that you had sown in post #303.

Our Track has quite a Few Turns a Car that Corners well and changes direction competently, is probably a Winner,..I take it the Rails are .063

Am building an F1  at the Moment and had been sitting here Once again wondering whether I should Try it, but as this Car is for a Friend, I decided to build something more standard,..but then,...lol

Perry!!, An ACTIVE Scratch-builder, Lost in the Wilds of Non Retro Land !!,..lol

I wish More guys Here built their Own stuff,..So good to see someone building interesting Original and competently built chassis !! Well Done mate. :)

At Worst you will Have to try and make it to the Retro Nat's at HSC, 18th September !!!

Please Feel Free to Post your efforts in the Retro section of Our ASCRA forum as well if you wish.

Thanks Stoo,
I personally like the main rails to be able to flex especially with the low power motors we are using here.
That is what I think about it.

I had been planning for the 30th October,
it seems the date has not been changes in all the web sites that say the incorrect date.
I will keep the ASCRA up to date also.

Yes a Good looking chassis Marty, it will be good to see it finished with the pans in place.

PerryV,

Pans? What pans? Here is the completed chassis, ready for testing.

If you look at the front body mounts, you will see what I am using to limit the movement on them. It is a piece of insulation from the motor wires that has been slid over and super glued to the body mount. The front mounts move less than the rear mounts, emulating the body movement of a plumber type, but are independant of each other.

Just trying something different.
