This was a Kamo clone that after I tested it, didn't blow my skirt up. So I added a new twist. (or two) .062 rail pivots in the front tube, .055 pivots in the rear, .039 connects the two.

Does it feel good to have your skirt blown up?....................DC

Don....nothing blows up your skirt???? Tim, the dbl wishbone with .055 has less longitudinal flexibility than the single .062 but still retains the same twist, so I'm hoping to see a difference. I know this... it's a PITA to build. LOL

I really like that one Don---light for the King.  I'll build Gen III for the King if the flat track version shows promise.

I was curious why no one puts floating pin tubes on a retro car? Are they illegal of something?

James, floating pin tubes are legal. The 6 year old Lou Pirro built car I used to win the flat track Can Am race at the Sano last year had them.

I was using 'em on my massy pans, but stopped when I went to perimeter-wire...for now, at least. Doing one change at a time, to isolate the variables & see what happens with each addition.

For whatever it's worth,I feel for the BPR king, floating pin tubes on the cars that we are now building would give the cars to much movement,,,making a easy to drive car,but slower on the clock. But that doesn't mean a different design in chassis would not work with floating tubes.................but of course I could be completely wrong.....LOL.........DC

Here is the latest iteration of the two hinge tuning fork F-1 frame. Some may remeber that the very first of these that I built was very fast and raced successfully but it wasn't stout enough to take a major hit. Version 1.0 - 1.4 used a JK nosepiece that was cut down, 062 forks, and a single .039 main rail. This frame is built along the same concept but is all scratch this time (save the bracket and guide tongue), and has 3 x .039 flow soldered.

This version has most of the flex of the first car but is stronger and a little heavier. This car as shown will run about 94 gr. with all running gear on. In road race trim (with center weights) it would go about 106. Testing on a speedway track has been good but I haven't tried it on a flat track yet.

I posted before how back in December I had gone from my usual 0.047” wire framed chassis to make some 0.039” wire framed chassis, and that once I got done with school I’d probably try building one entirely framed using 0.032” wire…

So, here you go.

It just feels like you should have used an aluminum guide nut and stainless pin tubes ... just sayin'. The clear guide flag is a nice touch.

I spent a little time today designing a new Can-Am chassis.  Inspired by Duran's car from the SWC.

Will be on the jig shortly!

They can be anything you want them to be.  I can draw them however they need be.

Only reason I showed them was I thought the drawing looked better showing the tires.

Some progress on the Duran inspired cars nose piece.  I spent a little time this evening to cut the nose piece and if all works out I will start the build this weekend.

The slots will need to be opened up a tick and made deeper to accept the wire and front hinge.  The center slot also will be added just before I do the fork.
