Not that I have heard, but it's early in the game.
I think only a few racers got them by the weekend.

Not entirely true. I did break one with a hammer.
If anyone wants to see it survive eight hammer hits, with the eighth hit pretty darn hard, until it finally broke on the ninth hit, go to my ad in "Slot Car Classifides-USA" on Facebook.

I really hope you didn't break one of the fast ones in the lot. Are you going to heal it with a pin and offer it as a healed cripple? Boiled - whacked - pinned - threaded - rehabilitated for use and discounted at $6 ready-to-race!

"Got four guides and three out of four the car ran faster."
So, can you return the slow guide? Is there an exchange program where slow guides can go to be fixed? Maybe these are like sealed motors where there are fast ones and slow ones... you just don't know till you try out the guide. This adds a whole new layer of testing complexity! Now I have to go back and try all my guides on the same car to find the fastest one. Never can test too much.
I can say the same about chassis, bodies, etc. ☺

Received my order of guides from Mike. Don't see how he makes any money as the workmanship is excellent. They'll get a good workout at the SWC at BPR.

The usual quietier summer business at the raceway was "interrupted" last week with 5 parties in 5 days, including a 75 kid whopper of one.
But I got all of them out for racers participating in big events this weekend, so it will be interesting to see how they fare.

Mike our local track owner has yet to figure out how to get kids groups into his raceway, can ya give me some tips on how to reach out to these groups?

Only on the tri-oval though.
It was .04 faster then my normal guide. That is a lot when the laps are 2.150 range.
Can't wait to try it on the road course.
I'm calling Mike on an order soon.

Congrats to Willy Custer for taking both the Can-Am and F1 win, this past Saturday, at the R.O.C. at Mid-America, using the C/R pinned, Red Fox guides.
While I was not around to see if he survived many, if any hits, I was shown the stamped chassis that Chris Radisich bent the ear adjacent to the guide tongue,on the LTD flat track, and the flag survived, and was there to witness Kevin Van Pelt break his guide clip in two.
I'm not exactly sure how Chris' car hit, but the KVP car, obviously took a direct hit to the nose of the flag, and it survived.

I finally caught up with all my orders for these.
These wound up not being super aggravating, for me to do, so I will continue for the time being.
I wound up doing about 15 extra, if anyone needs ones shipped right away.
As James Grandi mentioned in the other thread I ran on RF guides, none of the surfaces are very flat.
I've experimented with flattening/truing them a bit, and have shipped and will ship some, that way.
Here's what they look like, although this pink one doesn't show it that much, from lack of contrast.

Pat,
Of the racers you mentioned, probably the only one that might of run a pinned one, would be Matt Bruce, via Greg Van Peenen.
When you say "snap at the base", did the post break off (apparently the most common issue), or did the blade snap off?
Regardless, I assume it was an unpinned one.
I agree they are faster because it's a harder material, but I don't think boiling slows them down.
Willy dominated the recent All-Star race, with guides I pinned and boiled.
He's a super-awesome racer, but if boiling slowed the guides down, it seems hard to believe he would of TQ'ed and won both classes, as easily as he did.
IIRC, in one race, he blew a motor at the end of a heat, dropping 2-3 laps, and still won by 2-3 laps.
Plus I got the impression quite a few guys are boiling them.
Also, you would think they are already pre-boiled, when they are dyed.

No way of knowing if a pinned one would survive.
Guys like Cheater claim that they never broke guides , they pinned, years ago.
But that was years ago, with different cars and different guides.
I never ran any as a wing racer.
I make no claims my pinned ones are unbreakable.
Just that common sense would indicate they would have to be at least a little bit stronger.
You can order them anytime.
I never really stopped making them.
About 3 minutes after I filled all my orders, and sold the few leftovers, I had, I was back ordered again.

One racer mentioned breaking a guide, in the clip area, in a pretty minor wreck, (in practice?)
Obviously, pinning wouldn't help that situation.
But the racer admitted that the guide wasn't boiled.
I would suggest to racers, even if they don't use a pinned guide, they make sure they boil them.
Be aware that the dye will stain cookware, so I suggest purchasing something like in the pic.
It's a pot from Hobby Lobby that is typically used for candle making.

Mike,
Matt has only run the new Red Fox guides in the Retro East Enduro where they broke a stock one. He ran an old style Red Fox Guide at HVR. I need to get some more pined ones to send him. Just for your info I crashed hard at our weekly races a few days ago. So hard it bent one side of the front wing on a Mosetti defender chassis up at a 45 degree angle and didn't break the new red fox guide that you pinned and boiled.
Keep up your good work with those guides. And send me another dozen boiled, threaded, and pinned ones please.
Greg VanPeenen.
