Are we going into 1/32 also?
I don't care. I'm game if you are.
Maybe it's just where I've been looking/reading, but the 1/32 cars don't seem to get that much love, aside from Womps. I don't know if it's the most awesome car in the world, but I have a Ferret Humdinger, which is an actual brass and wire 1/32 wing car, sort of like if a Parma Brass Kar and an old Brazillian Group 12 shuttle chassis had a baby. I think it's a lot of fun to run, and the original 1/32 wing car body gets people looking!

Sure, why not?
.
Jason, on the old 1/32 Eurotoy I have you could drill & tap for 2-56 machine screws. I don't know about the newer ones.
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

I was just browsing this afternoon and saw the botched lacquer thread. I'll have to keep that in mind, though most of my bodies don't last more than a few races anyway...
Here's the body that was on my 1/24 Eurotoy. No idea if it's original or not. I got it as you saw in the first picture, with this body and no motor, so I have yet to run it on the track.
Bill, the holes on my 1/32 Eurotoy were tapped for 3-48 screws already when I got it. I don't know if that's the way it was new or not, but that's the way it came to me.

Mark, the chassis above is the Cox 1/32 Lacucaracha. They came with13D motors rather than a 16D like yours.
Jason, just use another 3-48 screw. Put a drop of blue loctite on them so they don't loosen up again, That painted body, with the taped on wing, looks like something Parma made in the late 50s or early 90s. I don't know what model you have, but I have one of their scale Ferraris with a wing like that. IS your narrow pan flexi the Parma with narrow pans? Not many vac bodies, maybe the JK go kart, if its still available. 1/24 model car kits for a hard body. I don't know what vintage bodies are still available. Professor Motor might be a good place to check. At one time, they had a repop of the Dubro Vette.
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

Both are Champion Astros. The first photo is the early version with different cutout vents & rear pan arrangement, The second photo is the later version ,but with aluminum pans. The two I have are like the 2nd photo, but with steel pans. Someone on OWH once told me the Astro made a good 4.5" NASCAR chassis when you used extenders & cut off the front wings. I have the parts, but did not build it up.
The earlier version may have required larger rear tires, but I don't have one, so I'm not sure, The Astro had a shorter wheelbase than the Turbo Flex.
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

You've got me on the Cox car Mark. I'm afraid my current knowledge doesn't really extend back further than the 80s, and it's also pretty much limited to the lexan-body cars. (I assume that would be for a hard body of some type?) I didn't know there was more than one version of the Astro, either. I do have a couple of old Parma Brass Kar chassis, and the Champion equivalent, as well as a Baby Brass Kar, though.
Bill, I did use 3-48 screws. I just got some long enough to go through the JK axle collars. I'll see if I can get a picture of what I did so maybe it will make sense. The axle collars are just the right length to give the pan the clearance to move, yet you can still tighten the screws down tight.
I have a couple of other similar bodies with taped-on wings, a Parma Mercedes of some sort that was given to me, and a Toytech Peugeot that I found on Ebay. They're both new and uncut. I hope to run them on something appropriate at some point. I'll see if I can get a picture of them, too.
The Cobra is lexan, not a hardbody, and it is on the Parma narrow Flexi that I posted a picture of earlier. You're right, I should try Professor Motor. I've picked up a few obscure old Parma bodies there. A model car body could be an option, too. I hadn't thought of that. I guess I automatically associate hardbody cars with the H&R cars that are run here locally on ovals, but I know there are other classes, too. Too much Nascar around here in the Southeast. lol

This is my repair on the 1/32 Eurotoy. You can see the axle collar under the screw head. They're mounted narrow side down, through the pan, and it's just right to be able to tighten the screw nice and tight, while still allowing pan movement.
I'll take a picture of the 1/24 bodies with tape-on wings tomorrow in the daylight. Colors just don't seem to look right with my digital cameras indoors after dark.
Bill, I believe you mentioned the Slotside website in an earlier post. Have you been able to access it recently? I've been trying off and on for a couple of months, and haven't been able to get it to load.

It's supposed to say turtle wax. That's what everyone received as a consolation prize
You forgot the Rice-a-Roni and the home game.

I forget the last car I waxed, I was probably my '75 Z. How about a can of paste wax for wood?
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.
