Timeframe for what? If you ever saw what else they pull out of Boston Harbor, you wouldn't eat their fish. Is this 1/32 or 1/24?

Speaking of the Scorpion, here's a picture of a Scorpion 3.
Bill, are the Scorpion 2 and 3 any good? I have yet to actually run mine. I got it with a lot of used chassis, but have yet to actually put it together. Seeing something about the new Mid America Salvator today , and Mark's setup sheet photo reminded me of it.

Yes, they are good, Make sure the guide tongue is straight. My two front pieces came twisted downward to the right. A 6" bolt & a couple nuts makes a good guide straightener. LMP & GTP bodies work well. I knew one Vermont guy who used Scorpion 2s for everything 4". When he came to Manchester, he always had problems with his NASCARs on our tracks. He was an experienced racer, ssso I have no idea what he was doing. For rgw 4.5" Scorp 2s it's touch & go. Some worked extremely well, others didn't. I recall one particular chassis that went through four different racer's hands.& didn't handle for any of them. I once raced a friend's 4.5" Scorp 2 on the local trioval. It was a mid-pack car that never finished higher with someone else driving it. I kept telling my friend, the owner that was because he put Ford stickers & decals on a Monte Carlo body. He had been the sales manage at a Ford dealership.
So set up your Scorpion 3 & see how it runs at your local raceway. Read my post #35 on page 2 of this thread for some setup tips from a far better driver than me,

I loved the 4.5 Scorpion 2s.
I miss racing 4.5 flexis.
Loved watching the carnage running 4.5" NasTrucks at Holy Hell. I think Nathan broke two rear axles in one race.

Ok, cool, I'll give it a shot. Do they have to have front wheels? The Scorpion 3 doesn't have chassis ears on the front, but I do have a Scorpion 2 pan/front section I could use that does have the ears on the front, if that works better.
I also have a 4" Scorpion 1, the one that has no "flex" in it, that I got as part of a package deal. The little I've run it, though, it seems like it bends very easily.
I loved the 4.5 Scorpion 2s.
I miss racing 4.5 flexis.
We just started racing a JK 4.5" Grand National box stock class here locally, and I really enjoy it. At least as a box stock class, they're not nearly as fast as the 4" flexis we're running, but it usually makes for some fun, reasonably close racing.
I'll add another picture here, an old Parma Monorail. I guess that's probably "pre-flexi", but it's still a similar chassis. Am I correct that it would've been late 70s or early 80s?

Not sure of the date (late 70's?) that these Champion Desperato chassis' were made but I believe it was one of the earliest Flexi chassis.
It's not exactly a Flexi chassis but I think Parma's BrassKar was made around the same time.

You beat me to the Brass Kar Jay! I have one, as well as the shortened Baby Brass Kar, and the Champion Brass Kar equivalent, the Magnum, I think it was.
Does that Champion chassis you posted a picture of have uprights for the rear axle or a motor bracket? I'm trying to figure out if that's from the top or bottom.
The Baby Brass Kar picture is first, then the Champion Magnum.

The picture of the Champion is from the bottom. It has no front uprights and only a simple bent-upwards "flap" at the extreme rear that you would solder an axle tube to. There is no motor bracket at all.

Jason, Parma released the brass nose pieces & wide finger pans for monorails in the mid-70s. I would say your chassis is a later version, it has Brass Kar pans rather than the wide finger ones, which had no cutouts. The brass/wire monorail chassis were used in CT open class wing car racing during the mid-70s. They were replaced by a myriad of hand-cut steel chassis. I continued to run brass/wire into the early 80s, because they were easier to build & tune.

How about stamped brass? 70's Dynamic.
Bought mine before 1970.

You bet, here's the Scorpion 1.
That dynamic is way before my time. Were the same motors used in cars with gears on the right side as the cars with gears on the left side? I've wondered if the motor would have to be timed differently to run the opposite direction, or maybe motor timing wasn't a thing at that point?

Is the Slotworks 16D on the Scorpion a Super 16D? I have yet to learn to tell the difference on Slotworks motors.
