What body do you have on that Scorpion, Mark? I assume from the weight on the left front that it's set up for an oval?
I believe I remember reading that Slotworks did several different versions of the 16D, balanced and unbalances, Super 16D, maybe more, and you could tell which version it was by the endbell color, as well a cue or two from the arm. I guess I could ask the Google. The Google knows everything. And then some....

Lol! Well, I used Google to find it on Slotblog! Mine is a Super 16D, since it has a brown endbell, and a green-coated, balanced arm.
Here's a link to the thread, for reference-

I could never keep the Slotworks motors straight. I just used the brown endbell S16D & the green endbell 16D. They sold variations of these two motors with different cans & different colored endbells. At least with Parma, it was much simper, especially after they released the Deathstars .
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

How about stamped brass? 70's Dynamic.
Bought mine before 1970.
As Bob / old & gray mentioned, pre-70's.You bet, here's the Scorpion 1.
That dynamic is way before my time. Were the same motors used in cars with gears on the right side as the cars with gears on the left side? I've wondered if the motor would have to be timed differently to run the opposite direction, or maybe motor timing wasn't a thing at that point?
Motors were screwed in by the endbell.

Thanks Mike. So the motors would've been the same, just with a longer shaft on the endbell end, rather than the other end? That makes sense.

Bill, I missed the whole Super 16D/ Deathstar thing, since I stopped running slot cars in the mid 90s, and just got back into the end of last year, after a new track opened up here locally. The only 16Ds I had back then were the Parma white endbell version. Am I correct that for the Parma motors, the white or pink endbell is the standard 16D, the green endbell is a Super 16D, and the black endbell with both tabs for the wire leads on top is the Deathstar? And that the standard 16D, S16D, and Deathstar would be the correct order of slowest to fastest?

Thanks Mike, that makes sense. I always wondered why so many of those old cars seemed to be attached at the endbell end.

Jason, you got most of the Parma motor info correct. except for the Deathstar being a newer Parma 16D than the white endbell motors. Deathstars have a thinner material can with stronger magnets. I would rank them 16D, Deathstar, S16D for the slowest to the fastest.

Thanks Bill. I've pickup a number of classic chassis since getting back into slot cars the end of last year, with the intention of setting them up with modern motors and gears to see how they compare with the current stuff, and partly because I just like to tinker. A few of them came with 16D motors of one sort or another, so I'll probably use them in cars to play with. It's helpful to know what are likely to be the better-performing ones.

Mike, I was going through the Markives(aka archives)looking for release dates of these s s chassis. Thought that the name sounded familiar. Thanks for the Dynamic post, it will make it soooo mutch easier to match bodies to these chassis. Any idea what colour the motors were ?
They were silver/chrome plated.
Later on, those chassis were available with a 2 hole can Mura motor, and a few different bodies like a Gulf Mirage coupe.
The Mura motor was most likely black.

Are you talking about the modular, screw together, Dynamic chassis?
