Bid, but couldn't go that high. Did get some great NOS parts this evening though. Got a card of brand new Certus brush springs which I am particularly excited about.

I'm back on the project after a nice long weekend visit with my son on leave from the Coast Guard.
I started detail painting the interior.......and promptly messed it up so badly I decided to wash it all off and start over.
Luckily I painted the gloss aluminum base coat with Tamiya lacquer and the detail painting was with Testors enamel. I was able to quickly wash all the enamel off with Testors thinner without it harming the Tamiya gloss aluminum:
A fresh coat of gloss aluminum and I'm back in business for a second try:

Rick, I think did that on purpose, so you could show off how easily and flawlessly you could fix it.

Phil and Mark, I switched gears from the interior debacle to getting the body in paint.
We are having a warm and mostly sunny day here and by Monday the temperature will be dropping into the upper 40's. My "trash can spray booth" painting goes much better in warmer weather.
I think it turned out OK and man, that's a lot of RED:
Ferrari sure knows how to make a "swoopy" looking car!

Wowzer beautiful red. Looks like its candy over chrome, but I can see its not.
Is it the lighting or does it really have that look?

The lighting really highlights and shows of all the swoopy curves.

Progress on my second red Ferrari I'm painting.
The detail painting is done as best I could and all is ready for final assembly:
I'm looking forward to seeing the 3rd of my Lancer's "Fabulous First Four" Super Competition bodied cars come together.

Looks fine Rick! The car will run so fast that nobody will even notice what you say are imperfections.
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

Thanks.
I see all the imperfections as I'm detail painting. I'll get some black paint from the shoulder belts on the blue driver's suit. So I go back with the blue and then get it on the black.........and back and forth. Now I will do just one attempt at a fix and then move on......it is what it is as they say.

This Ferrari is super swoopy from the days when that's what defined aerodynamics. Make the body sleek and pointy and it would "slice through the air".......I love it!
The inserts really make it . It looks sooo much better than the Cox Ford mags I've been using. I've been hoping no one noticed that they have 6 instead of 5 spokes.
Mark, I've used Cox Ferrari mags in builds and I think they look pretty good. The spokes are not exactly correct but there are 5 of them and they are Ferrari wheels, although an earlier version:
To go after some of those concours points I'm going to put some Cox Ferrari wheels to good use by lathe turning them down for wheel inserts:
My friend Rodney turned me on to the "korrect" decals on eBay:
OK, onward to some simple and light weight engine, interior and, hopefully, transaxle detailing............

Someone at the Syracuse raceway must own a lathe & would probably turn something for you if asked. Isaac has a Unimat lathe.

I screwed up installing the rear stripe decal and ruined it. The decals are from Patto's Place in Australia. I've order another set and I'm having them shipped by "super duper air". Bruce said they will ship Thursday and it takes 4-5 days for them to arrive.
In the meantime, here are those exhaust pipes Mark:
They are simply double sided taped to the inside rear of the body:
While I'm waiting for those replacement decals..........onward to the next project.
