Can I assume you changed the motor mount too. Or does a 16D fit in the original 26D mount?
Sorry to ask so many questions, But if your mount is original? That's what I am looking for in my parts bin.
The 26D hole is larger so it's just hanging via the screw. The front end is pressed down with some steel wire...16D has small gaps on its sides, no snug fit.

While not part of my "collection", I did build this for a friend in Australia. I assume he still has it, but its based on Dynamic bits including those floppy front wheels.
Built in 2009.

Could be the rears are too wide. These chassis were originally designed for half inch wide tires. With the brass outriggers you have added, you might want to run 5/8ths wide rears.
I never liked the bend-in-the-middle chassis. With a hot motor it was too hard to get around a corner without lifting the front and popping out. I know all the hot shoes used them, but they were better drivers. They also used solid brass slab pans, which added weight down low. Properly set up, these chassis were unbeatable back in the day.

thanks for the tips. i tried locking the drop arm solid and didn’t notice much. the other tires I put on where 1/2” wide and it was still too much grip. was thinking some weight on the front corners of the brass rods behind front wheels? didn’t have any only a dynamic bolt on lead tongue weight at the time to experiment with.Could be the rears are too wide. I wonder if the tires you were running grew once they reach speed, effectively like putting the brakes on? Bit of a bummer.

theirs like a 1/8 of sidewall doubt they would be able to grow much but if it was rubbing it wasn’t too much but maybe enough to kill them. i was able to stop before total meltdown so endbells are still good just the blue windings turned a almost green. pretty bummed burned up a cool purple dynamic mill with the sticker still on. oh well.

The Corvair Monza SS is one of my favorite. I didn't think they existed but,in the past month I've seen three (3) . I'm wondering if more than one manufacturer produced them. Mine has a flat where the cockpit is and, your's is recessed,as were the other two (2) that I've seen resently.

Mark, they work well on a clean, dry track too. I put a 7/8" pair on my first scratchbuilt chassis in '68. They are still as soft today as they were when I put them on. For some reason, the Candies that show up today are 1 1/4" dia. I haven't seen any 7/8" ones show up. Both sizes use threaded plastic hubs. I'm thinking they were available in soft & firm silicones.
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

I have a couple of swirl pairs. Another thing I saw in the counter at the race track when I was a kid (the other being a Russkit Black Widow) that sticks with me today. I absolutely love them!
Martin you should sell me those swirls. Let someone else enjoy them for a while.

Martin, I've been racking my brain, but I can't imagine I have anything you don't already have multiples of. I'll keep trying to come up with something.
