Lets keep Marks post about Dynamic stuff. I am sorry I got off track.

I still do not have an original Dynamic Super bandit. Or a Dynamic Ferrari P4 or a Calex 2F. Still so much, just Dynamic stuff to look for.

So i snatched up a unassuming dynamic chassis seeing it had the molded in front axle in the other pictures. i thought it was a super bandit front end at first and planned on building a somewhat close clone. but upon further inspection now that I have it in my hands the tongue is too short. and with the cast mesh dynamic wheels it came with it seems I have whats left a dynamic swinger. unfortunately the rear dynaflex motor pod is for a 26D.

4-40 and don't buy any, just tell me if you need any.

Here is an idea for a connection I did on a chassis similar to what you are doing I think?

Thanks Martin. I did mount the brass tongue like yours.

What I got so far. holding off on front wheels not sure what to use at the moment. Almost want to use semi modern champion flexy front wheels to really get crazy thingie vibe.

so not super happy with how this came out. pretty sloppy work, think i kind of get over my head for my skill level and get lazy and cut corners. i managed to really bugger up the body trimming it a little too much. Also had a problem with the body hanging up the pans and not letting them float properly. i heated up the body to relax it on the chassis and managed to deform it a little. I know Martin has told me to use really warm water and I should have done that but lazy. Not happy with paint either. oh well curious to see how it works. have my super fast rewound no brakes motor in there so if it can handle that its a keeper.

Mark don't be so hard on yourself, it looks great. Small flaws add beauty. Cindy Crawford has a mole and you don't hear anybody complaining  :)

The only flaw I see is the Dynamic spring rear suspension, which may have looked like a cool thing in the 60's.  :o

I love it. The front wheels are perfect

Thanks guys did a few quick things to it to make me feel a little better about it. my other dynaflex runs really good but the suspension is like three times as stiff. not sure if that was a mod back in the day to stuff more springs in there to stiffen it up. hoping I can just bolt another pod in without if it sucks. not sure if they are same dimensions. Also decided it was dumb to test with a no brake motor so put in a stock classic 26d that I know has good brakes.

Yes, adding more springs was one way of limiting or eliminating the spring flex action on the Dynamic chassis pieces. Dumping in epoxy or super glue was another. The spring action in the rear of the inline pieces would often cause crown gears to be chewed up.

Dynamic does make stiffer springs. FYI I see them on e-bay from time to time. Or you can lock them up completely if that works better for you.

Interesting. my other dynaflex has like three sets of springs on each pillowblock. just figured thats how they are. have a shortage of oldschool lead wire so figured old controller wire is pretty close so cut this off one. got about a 100 of wire on junk old controllers to use.

If someone wanted stiffer springs, they could wind them using .010-.015 piano wire wrapped around a small cylinder. maybe even a piece of .078 piano wire. John Havlicek winds motor brush springs from guitar strings, that's another source of small wire.

Track Test was successful. without any tuning besides adjusting gear mesh it was running a half second faster than my best vintage build on a flat track. after putting on some slightly grippier rears it went another half second faster to be a whopping 1 second faster than my previous fastest car. easy to drive with neutral handling where you can really push and it wont do anything abrupt. very pleased.

So glad you are happy with the handling.

If you ever do want to stiffen the rear Dynaflex? see the choices in there catalog. Of course you can always replace the spring with tubing of the correct size witch would make it not flex at all.

Thanks Martin. seems to be pretty good on a flat track with no banking to make it bottom out. surprised it works as good as it does with how sloppy the rear is.

As Martin stated, I replaced the springs with a piece of brass tubing cut to size to eliminate the flex in my chassis.  Problem solved.

Personally I think the best feature about the Dynaflex is the ability to change axle height. It is easy to put a spacer under the block to adjust ride height.

Dynamic does make different height blocks, may be they are for Side-winders or fronts etc.

Anybody out there ever measured and noted the different sizes?

the dynaflex is excellent for front ends where you don’t have as much adjustability with tire sizes. I’ve run brass washers on the front of mine for a while to fine tune ride height.
