We, off course, did see that, since it's our territory.
But I wanted some reactions from the guys here since, just between us, the Shinodas and scratchbuilts are my favourites. The way I see it is that US-built cars are taxed heavily by the smaller curvy plastic tracks as you say, and possibly higher gear ratios which are quite the norm for your big American tracks.
Still, the Italians that saw them in Turin were very impressed by the build quality and the bodies.
Kind regards,
Edo

The American continent's Thingie squadron is taking a beating in the Proxy race and there is no reaction?

Speaking of which, we're setting up the voting on SForum soon and I am hoping your Heavenly Hornet will do well since there is enough distraction for the guys not to vote the others:

this is what happened to your Mongoose motor on the Blue King in Copenhagen:
I wonder if the spring hole was not too wide and allowed for the spring to move too much on his post :?:
Anyway there was another problem:
That was then:
This is now, another 16D has been mounted:
I did not solder the can to the chassis, I might use epoxy instead so not to ruin magnets with heat.
Kind regards

Edo, do you know if anyone checked for AC ripple in the track power? :?:

EVERY Race I EVER ran you could make as many chassis adjustments as U wanted but you COULD NOT even TOUCH the Engine after it had passed the initial pre race inspection. If they even SUSPECTED that U monkey'd with it U were OUT!!!

Having participated at the Proxy round in Turin, let me try to answer this for Edo, Allan and Markus, who are doing a hell of a job organizing this thing.
They have to manage about 25 cars, and are doing everything possible to make sure that all cars can run all the rounds as equitably as possible; meaning changing spongies for Ortmanns, or, in these cases, replacing blown motors. They don't have the time to tune each individual car, even for something seemingly as simple as adding weights.
I know it may seem a little inconsistent, but believe me, they're trying to be as fair as possible to everyone! Edo didn't add weight to his own car either.
Having now run in a lot of modern, vintage and proxy events, I know that rules are never going to seem fair to everybody, and probably aren't - but that's impossible to achieve anyway. What the organizers do need is your support - and of course constructive criticism for next years event. Things can change, and will evolve as we learn more.
regards,
Don

this is the Proxy Thingie "family" picture:
After I took this pic Allan sent his Pocket Rocket and the Ed&Rick's Consortium sent Black Cherry, all were in Copenhagen.
After that we received Jeff''s LongPig Stripes.
Oh OH,They are actually 35!

Bob, had you rewound this arm? It looks like things got too hot, judging how the comm is blackened.

Hi Bill, I didn't even test the motor before I sent it! It was the only style of motor I had that dated back to the 1968 period...seriously. I thought I had a 26 single Lenz left over from the bad old daze but discovered that all I had left was the black unmeltable endbell. I got three of those chrome Mabuchis in a box of ePay stuff. It looked cool so I thought what the heck. I went PC (period correct) and went the endbell drive single hole can route. If I had my druthers...I would have made it a can drive Bob Green C can set up and taken my lumps with the Vintage Police.
I did not solder the can to the chassis, I might use epoxy instead so not to ruin magnets with heat.
Kind regards
Edo
Edo, epoxy will work great. You might also want to epoxy the front edge of the motor to the chassis cross brace. A small piece of brass rod or piano wire along with epoxy should fill the small gap in front of the motor and strengthen the glue joint.

get your popcorn out , reserve your favourite couch and warm up your TV for the live coverage of the 5th round of the Proxy Thingie race in North London in 7 days!
(pic of John Secchi rehearsing already
Will the "nuts and bolts" DoubleCross show his apparent superiority once more? Will the TSRF Face Addict LongPig keep his overall 2 place?
Will the silent quiet strong Renegade fence off the Cucarachas assaults? OR maybe the Heavenly Hornet will finally have his revenge?
Are the Italian mascalzoni going to beat the Brit hoods? And what about the Yankee contingent? Will they just sit around hoping to win Concours point later or will they finally show their muscle once and for all?
All bets are open!

is that all you can say about the biggest and only Proxy Thingie race that ever happened in this world?
Are you guys so insensitive as not to comment and/or formulate hypothesis about this formidable challenge? I mean there is 2 round left (plus Concourse) and you're just sitting confortably at home like nothing happens?
:snooty:
Actually, come to think about it, I might be all wrong: I bet you're busy in your lab with a hot iron and Floyd Manley's Thingie how to articles.

Just out of curiosity, will the pictures be of the cars as they arrived, or after passing through the hands of the Mad Cucaracha Butcher of Lugano?
